We've taken rides a couple of times in the past summers. A fun family outing. It can be unbearably hot in there so dress accordingly as there's no air conditioning...but it's still an enjoyable outing!
Great experience. Especially over the High Level bridge. Fantastic view of the river valley and legislative grounds.
This Streetcar is run by volunteers that are railroad hobbyists, so you will get some very good history of the train and the route, If you are going to any of the festivals in Old Strathcona like the Fringe or the Street Performers festival this is a very direct route to get there and easy parking
From the knowledgeable volunteer staff, you will learn much about cable cars, and some great history of Edmonton - namely the massive high level bridge! There is something humbling about being on a such a high man made structure - and stopping right in the middle! It is worth the small price of admission!
Jump aboard these retro rail cars for a quick jaunt across a high wire river crossing! Great views of the river valley. Fun for adults and kids. Wonderfully friendly, charming volunteers man the ride and entertain the passengers. A great way to travel from downtown to Whyte Avenue and back again, or hit two Saturday farmers markets in short order. Also a great way to reach the Fringe Festival without worrying about parking.
The little streetcar carried us over the high-level bridge and into the heart of Old Strathcona where we checked out the farmer's market and Whyte Ave. Nice to sit back and relax without feeling rushed, unlike the lrt and buses
The car took us through old S=tatcona and over the high level bridge. View was excellent and it was a great experience we will do it again.
The tour isn't that long, but it's nice to get out and cross the bridge in the old streetcar. The tour could be a bit longer or provide more information.
An interesting step back in time with a wonderful view. A nice outing to take the streetcar down on a Saturday and take in the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market. Very enjoyable and affordable. Also a nice way to spend part of a day with visiting family or friends.
A volunteer group has found a restored several streetcars from the 1920s and now runs them on a short stretch between Old Strathcona in Edmonton to Jasper Street, just on the edge of downtown. The cars have been meticulously restored to their original condition and clatter along an abandoned CP rail line for $5 return trip. The conductors look like they could have worked the original cars (although at 70 - 80 years old, thy are not quite old enough!) and clearly enjoy their work. They provide a knowledgeable history of the service and the cars. The original service ended in the 50s and most of the cars were sold off to become storage sheds and even cottages. Finding them and restoring them is clearly a labour of love for these volunteers. Funding is being sought to extend the line and buy more cars.Your kids will love it.
