I enjoyed the unique little shops & restaurants-variety & people -the only downside would maybe be accessibility to restrooms
White av is a great place for people that love a lot of shopping or a little. I'm on the side that thinks white av is good. That means its not an everyone thing.
Growing up on Whyte Ave in the 70's was a similar vibe to Haight/Ashbury or Vancouver Gastown district. Still trying to keep some of that essence today-Whyte Ave only partially succeeds. During the daytime there is an abundance of Bohemia and history. It is only during the late evening that this area falters to impress with a abundance of over-serving and bad manners. This problem is not unique to this city and don't let it spoil your visit to all it's markets, boutiques and pubs. There is also fantastic eateries all along from 99 St. all the way to the University area. Just try not to stay out to late and if you do please arrange adequate transportation. P.S.-Fringe Time in August is amazing with Culture and Entertainment.
Very interesting street with many shops, restaurants and bars. Edmonton'd #1 spot for the night life crowd.
Better than downtown. If you visit Edmonton skip Jasper and go here. Nice restaurants and fun shops.
Whyte Ave is an amazing place for early and late evening entertainment. There are restaurants to suit everyone's taste from simple yet totally satisfying creole food at Dadeo's to good old pub food at O'Byrnnes
Whyte Ave has numerous shops, restaurants, bars and is filled with the most eclectic blend. It reminds me a lot of Government St in Victoria, BC. A great place to kill some serious time!
The heartbeat of historic old Strathcona, Whyte Avenue offers independent stores, bookshops, restaurants and bars. A great place to browse during regular store hours. On Saturdays, there is the Old Strathcona market a block north-a personal fav. Maybe not so great on weekend nights when drunks stagger into traffic and deposit their consumed libations onto the sidewalks.
Wonderful area of the city where you find the best shops and restaurantsalso great night life. There are 2 fabulous hotels along the avenue as well as you are close to the University and the hospital.
Awesome little boutiques for that shopping person, from clothes to items for the house. Super restaurants and little coffee shops just to stop and people watch. For those of you that like the night life there are great bars and clubs to dance the night away. Parking is a little limited. A wonderful avenue to just walk down in the summer with a coffee, a special someone, stop and have a drink or something to eat and just enjoy!
