Big park with a luna park and a few cafe/restaurants. Lovely to chill out on a hot day especially at the side of the big lake in the middle of it
I've been to Almaty over 30x and was pleasantly surprised the first time I went to this park. It's a good place to go to walk around and is a very good size and the entrance fee converted to ~30 cents USD. You can grab lunch w/outside seating in the center of the park by the lake. Good 2-3 hour outdoor experience.
Great park for families with gardens, miniature railway, pony rides, horse & carriage rides, boating lake, outdoor swimming pools, amusement park etc.
when we walk down the park we were like in the time tunnel. Timing was in the 30-40 years ago at the cold war age. Pretty quiet very huge trees and everywhere was green.100's tones of green. City is incredible green too, image the park then. Statues and sculptures are becaming communist regime.Very vintage experience, park and city eighter.
We spent almost an entire day in Gorky Park on a family vacation to Almaty. Once there the park is easy to navigate and has a variety of attractions for everyone. The crowds were small when we went on a weekday. Rides didn't have much of a wait and food/drink options were plentiful. Overall a positive experience and I would recommend for anyone in Almaty for a few days with younger children.
Nice and relaxing place. For kids enough fun park acitivities. Nice restaurants near the water side and possibility for water bike rent
One of the biggest parks in the city. Brought back a lot of childhood memories. I really enjoyed my time here. Although it is not really in the "center" of the city.
I was meeting with some friends in Almaty and they suggested we head to Gorky park, another name for this park.. It is quite a big park with fun fare type attractions for kids. Great to walk around and spend a relaxing evening here.. There was a free concert taking place here which was amazing!
Most of its area looks like a forest, could be good as plenty of trees make the air fresh, valuable for Almaty. Good looking ponds, but dirty and plenty of litter on pavements as some locals don't really care of it. Amusement park is ok, not up to European standards- old soviet style, but feels rather welcome anyway.
