A special thank you to Ms. Vicky Bryant. She was so charming and full of information. She has researched and compiled all the information in the tour mostly by herself . Fascinating and well worth your time. If you are over 40 you will enjoy all the name dropping of people who visited this very interesting place. To imagine that these people use to visit this location and stood where we were now standing was very interesting. A big thank you to the Baptist college for leaving parts of the Top of the Hill as it was. The stories are so great that you wish you could see all of it as it was. We will be taking more friends back for another visit. A must see!
I do not think most people in Arlington had any idea what was going on in their little town. Of course now it is a big town. I think I will try and go and do the tour again just so I get it all down.
WOW - so much local history and intrigue! Stand where famous movie stars once visited, gambled and even performed - Ginger Rogers, Sally Rand, Mae West, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra and these are only a few! Plan to spend several hours listening to Vickie and touring the grounds of this once infamous playground for the rich and famous. It was the Las Vegas before Las Vegas. Well worth your time - don't miss it! For the best experience, call Vickie and let her know you are coming especially large groups...you will feel very much at home and in awe with this personalized tour!
This was some very interesting history! It was neat to hear of the famous people who had visited there.
We traveled to Arlington for the National Championship game at AT&T stadium and were fortunate to have stumbled upon this tour during our stay. Looking back on our visit, this was the best part of our trip. Vickie is a wealth of information and this historic property is a 'must see'!
This tour is Chock Full of Historical Information about a fascinating & cool place. I don't want to give anything away, but when you are done with this intriguing & fantastic tour about gangsters & gambling, etc. it makes you wanting More! I would do it again in a minute. The tour guide - Vickie - was Awesome and Extremely knowledgeable on the whole subject.
This attraction is currently a Baptist College in Arlington, Texas but back in the 20's and 30's, it was a casino with underground tunnels for those partaking in gambling to escape when law enforcement showed up. When it was a casino, it was known as "Vegas before Vegas". It is well worth scheduling your tour to get all the history...
It was historical and eye opening. Mrs. Bryant has certainly done her research and has put her heart in to this. It is definitely worth going to. It is wonderful experience for anyone particularly students or former students of ABC.
This afternoon I was thoroughly entertained by Vickie, who gave a fantastic talk on the history of the Top O'Hill Terrace, in Arlington, TX. This is where the Who's Who of Texas and America met between the 1920s - 1940s. Vickie name dropped most of the big names in Texas and many big name entertainers of the day. It's a great place to take anyone over 40, or anyone who's interested in what the famous and infamous do.
Top O'Hill Terrace is a very informative, and historically interesting place to tour. Vicky Bryant lives and breathes the story and her presentations are all documented and accurate. You find yourself hanging on to every word as you view the presentation, and then you can't wait to be able to walk through the campus to see the existing buildings, and peer down into the tunnels existing in the lower part of the main office building. Bob and I have a huge advantage... we were students at Bible Baptist Seminary in 1963 - 1966 and some of our classes were in the actual lower part of the house where the mouth of the tunnel opened out onto the hillside. We saw the moving walls that hid the gambling boards, etc. And our other classes were in the big main horse stables. We were fortunate to be there at that time. Our memories are vivid and we appreciate all we saw and experienced and learned while we were students there. We love this place and will go tour it over and over again.
