We went to the climbing wall as a different type of day out. I am scared of heights but our instructor Adam was very good and confident in what he was saying/doing. He was pushing my partner to do harder things whilst giving me easier things to do, i think he could sense the fear! I wouldn't have believed i could do half the things that I did that day, all thanks to the very well qualified Adam! My partner had a very lovely time and I hate to say it but had fun too and would love to do it again. It was all done professionally and in a safe environment. We booked a 2 hour private course and it was worth every penny. (Also we think Adam needs a pay rise). There was people of all ages there and it was all very coordinated and safe, the cafe at the top looked great too. Will definitely return.
The climbing wall was great fun and great value for money. My 3 children loved it. My son has a fear of heights and totally surpassed this. My daughter loves climbing and was totally encouraged. My other daughter has mild cerebral palsy, I am still on a high as she managed to climb to the top and for her this was a major achievement which she will go back to school and tell her teacher and her friends. She is delighted. I think the staff are brilliant, Bob was very patient and encouraging and the lady was very friendly. We are now thinking of going to Ratho climbing centre on a regular basis as it suits all 3 of our kids. We also think it will be good for our daughter who has mild cp as she loved it and she is using different muscles., so thanks for that. Excellent.
Went here while visiting our son at Uni. Our son has SPA qualification and supervised us. Bouldering wall is creative! Staff friendly and helpful.
Hello and thank you for the great review ! I will pass on the review to the cafe owner as well. Please do come and climb with us again next time you are in Ambleside.
My girlfriend and I visited the wall whilst in the Southern Lakes on holiday. The day was wet, so we decided to climb instead.I have climbed before, albeit a while ago and my girlfriend was a total beginner. We had a climbing session with Adam for an 1.5h and it was superb. We bouldered first, then we did some climbing on the main wall. The boulder session was tough but great fun with some great advice from Adam. The main wall was just the same. It was a great workout and a good laugh. The facilites were great and spotless, the staff great and friendly and welcoming. Its a shame the cafe wasnt open otherwise I would have stayed longer. It was so good, I bought some shoes back home and have been bouldering twice since! Thanks Adam and thanks to everyone at the wallMartin & Sarah
I am so glad that your group enjoyed the climbing party, I'm happy to hear that we made it an enjoyable and fun experience for everyone. Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is appreciated. We hope to see you back climbing with us on your next visit
Hi.Thanks for your review. Be great to have you back some time. If she enjoyed climbing be sure to search out your local wall. We have a lot of fun at our wall, but the challenges remain regardless of where or what you are climbing. Many thanks,Ally
Visited the climbing wall for my son's birthday party. Kids had great fun and given loads of support and encouragement from the instructors. Great too to be able to watch the climbers from the cafe on the floor above.
The climbing wall is great! It has a small bouldering area which varies massively in grade, so can be used by anyone, likewise the wall section though small has a wide variety of grades and has top ropes in situ, but there is also space to do leading with your own rope to. The cafe upstairs has a wide vairety of food and you can watch the climbers through the window. Great to do on a rainy Lake district day when you have a few hours to kill.
Great fun, I'm not going to lie the getting up is easy its the bit where you let go at the top and trust your not going to come crashing to the ground
