Caoba Farms is a balanced organic ecosystem dedicated ro producing the best foods possible from all over the world. The tour is very informative and interesting. They understand how to preserve and grow plants with the best nutrition without the need for pesticides. Their ecosystem wastes nothing and allows Mother Nature to take the best care of their plants. Their store includes products produced from all over Guatemala. They produce "super foods" like Morenga powder and capsules. My choice for a must see tour.
Been to Caoba Farms earlier and am on the way again by the time this review gets published. Experienced and enjoyed the polyhouse type of farming, atmosphere and cultivation. Will attend the farmers market meet which gives us room to get innovative ideas over organic farming. In all, best place to visit for or a guide for organic farming
They also have a door factory, locate in Jocotenango, which is a middle-low/low class area. They keep working with their machines even when it is very late at night, like tonight, already past midnight, and sometimes even later than that. I guess if there were hotels around, they will care less, but since it is a neighbourhood where people is not that whealthy, they might not care much. Making money is more important than the sleep of the people living close to the factory.I write this here since it is the same people managing both. On one side, they are organice and nice, on the other one, they are noisy and not considerated.
It's no wonder that a lot of health food restaurants in Antigua use Caoba Farms fresh, organic produce and products to prepare their dishes. Most people are aware of the health difference organic foods make. Compared to what is available elsewhere, (on the planet), this place is a standout in every way.We shop at the farm store located just south of Antigua frequently and always come away with items hard to find elsewhere. That includes, ghee, kombucha, kefir, aioli sauce, exotic spices, lamb, buffalo and large, healthy, fresh-picked vegetables. There are soaps, essential oils, shampoos and other naturally-made cosmetic items, as well as vitamins and food supplements to compliment the wide variety of health-enriching foods. They carry products from other health-conscious producers also - (at no markup). It's a place that must be seen to be appreciated. Tours of the farm are available, too. Frequent visits to Caoba Farms have contributed to our overall health and well-being and we highly recommend the work of Kronick and his employees and friends to anyone. All their products speak volumes for themselves. So - if you are interested in improving your health - while enjoying the delicious taste of freshness - take a trip to the store at Caoba Farms and find out what we mean for yourself.
Nice organic place to get fresh vegetables, orlganic eggs, Chambuca and some more.
This is am amazing example of organic farming in Central America. Over 50 different organic vegetables and fruits and more on a very small piece of ground. Great tours, a beautiful view of the volcano Agua, and delicious fresh foods. A good place to visit in Antigua.
Wow, this tour totally exceeded my expectations! Our group met at the Central Park (no booking required) where we took transport to the farm. There we were given a guided tour of the farm with explanations about the organic farming processes used by the farm, and shown some of the different products. We were also given a sugar cane juice icy pole to try- delicious! This tour was so interesting and really inspiring, they are doing so many good things for the community. And for such an informative tour the price was a bargain! At the end you can shop for organic produce and products in there store. This tour is a must do in antigua!
Free shuttle up to the area, I hopped on at the market just past the arch, they will actually call them up for you. A few things seem to have changed since the prior reviews. They now have happy hour from 12-5 and do indeed serve food the whole time. I had nachos and the ceviche camorones. It was definitely on point. They also had some live music going during the day. It was such a serene experience to just sit and take in the view. You're also welcome to walk the grounds, check out the greenhouse, etc. I didn't get the tour, just wandered around with a beer and did some photography. An excellent way to spend and afternoon.
We toured this farm with our two kids and another family with their young children. The tour was $10 each. The farm itself is beautiful — as in, can-we-move-here? beautiful. We were all impressed with the farming methods. Be sure to ask them about how they "milk the clouds" for water. I took tons of notes I was so fascinated! The kids loved being here, too, and were given bits of kale and other veggie scraps to feed the chickens. We also stocked up on goodies from their store, including homemade kombucha. Yum! Be sure to ask them for a list of local restaurants where they supply veggies to. They wrote a list of 10+ restaurants, and we were only able to try two (Cafe Condesa and Sabe Rico) - both were excellent! The farm plans to add cooking classes + yoga, so ask about that if you're interested. You can also volunteer for two hours and take home some veggies if that's of interest. We were visiting Antigua for Spanish study, but the two tour guides speak excellent English, and we were grateful for this because we understood so much more about what they do there. This is a great, relatively short visit perfect for an afternoon.
This farm is a local gem if you want to go and learn about organic agriculture. The staff was very friendly and patient. They even gave me a bag of free organic veggies once I was done with my day of work. Will definitely return! The views in every direction are magnificent! Worth your money and time!
