A must to visit for anyone that enjoys going to the cinema. It is a charming little place right by the beach. It's a wonderful place to visit, they always have a good selection of movies on and the gift shop at the front us worth a browse.
Went here simply because it was a rainy day, I am so glad we did, it is a fabulous place, lovely reception area with very interesting things to buy. The seats were comfortable and the film was the latest.Long may this little gem last.
What a great little cinema that oozes personality and charm, I just hope they don't demolish it to built a multi- complex (which is planned). Love this theatre as it is, a major draw card for Avoca Beach. Great for fund raising and funky movies. Love it! Please leave it.
What would you think of a cinema that advertised tickets on its website for $20, and then charged you $23? I would think they were in breach of fair trading legislation. The woman on the desk wasn't interested, said to "see Beth and Norman on Monday". I'm not going to the Office of Fair Trading over $3 -- life is too short -- but do be warned.Otherwise, as I've said previously, unique little theatre. Pity they want to turn it into another megaplex!
I am a devoted fan of iconic village theatres and the Avoca Theatre is a classic example - all the modcons of air-conditioning and great sound combined with the front desk charm, comfortable seats, cosy atmosphere, and home-made choc top ice-creams. The theatre works hard to create a point of difference and we chose a new movie from their British Film Festival before Christmas. Why wouldn't you go to see a great movie a stones throw from the beach and three cafes?
This is not just a picture theatre...it's a true multisensory experience which includes a large variety of movies and live shows and documentaries...as well as something very special for the shopper!! Clothes, scarfs, accessories, nic nacs, ornaments and jewellery....are all for sale in the foyer. You can also buy a glass of wine to take in to the movie!!
This theatre is an historical gem in a beautiful setting. Worth a look even if you don't see a movie. The foyer has an eclectic collection of art and craft for sale. The cafe has great drinks and snacks. Always screens good films. We have also attended the Coasties Film Festival that is interesting.
There's nothing like a regional picture theatre - especially one that is licenced. We recently saw a movie here and loved the experience. We were a bit early so browsed the items for sale, could have had a tea/coffee and treat but instead took a seat on one of the comfy lounges in the waiting area. If you're in Avoca, it's a great stop.
We love going to Avoca beach picture theatre. Great range of movies from all genres. Special event nights and local films. Easy to find and park with many cafés and restaurants within walking distance. There are lots of interesting items for sale in the foyer - jewellery, clothing, art etc. - and it's licensed.
Fairly small, old fashioned, right up to the minute films!Comfortable seating. The staff there own the theatre so take special care of thier patrons.
