Everyone knows the beach is a hit in Avila Beach, but this trail is wonderful! Locals and visitors were all on the trail, it was very clean and also felt safe.
It winds through the canyon to the sea along the year round creek. Lots of birds to see/watch and other small wildlife (wild turkeys, owls) & salmon during season.
This paved bike trail meanders along a creek bed, past apple orchards and vineyards, through a lovely coastal golf course and ends up in the sands of the Pacific Ocean. Round trip is a relaxed 30 minutes.....that is with time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Avila Beach from a bench conveniently located at the ocean end of the trail. There is a 1/2 mile gradual incline that gets your heart pounding a bit but otherwise it is flat all the way.....how hard can it be when toddlers on trikes and skateboarders tackle it with aplomb? There are warning signs regarding mountain lions but I ride this every morning we are at our beach house and so far no indication that the critters are among us. Far scarier are the toddlers intent on keeping up with the bigger kids or the unwatched off-leash canines. I go early to avoid these hazards.
or bike! Beautiful trail with a good variation in environs as you make your way through the canyon. A good way to get out of the car and see what this part of California is really like.
We have walked the Bob Jones Trail several times in the last year. It is a pleasant walk and we always feel safe.
Walk or bike the asphalt two lane trail meanders next to the creek and Avila Golf Course from Avila Hot Springs to the beach town of Avila. About 2 1/2 miles one way with a small uphill about 1/2 was. Great views of golf course and bay. Very kid and dog friendly. Stop in the middle at Avila Bay Club for a sandwich or burger. Great afternoon destination
Great paved trails for families kids, bikes, walkers, and joggersSometimes crowded with fast bikes so just be carefulWe like to park at the beginning of the trail and walk it all and end up at Fat Cats for breakfast and then walk back.
Very nice walk/ run (if you do,I don't)....traffic not too bad sometimes too many cyclists, when I'm walking.......but fun, lot of nature to enjoy !
Nice trail for the most part, easy for families to ride. The trail leads easily to the beach and pier for easy access to shopping, beach, restaurants and other activities.
Ok this is an easy walk from the Avila village inn to avila beach! Less than 2 miles and along a river. Lots of people, dogs and strollers...bikes too! Just plain fun
