My fiancé and I were able to go here and have the best wine we have ever had. We did the tour, which is free for groups of 4 or less I think. Then we sampled some of the most amazing wine ever and we don't drink but maybe twice a month. The prices are really low, wish we had bought more for friends or holiday gifts. We would for sure go here again when we are back on vacation.
We want visitors to have a good time when they come to our winery, and we are very sorry that you had a bad experience. For large groups, we recommend making a reservation. For some reason, which we don't quite understand, our greeter came across to you as rude. On the positive side, your complaint is a wake up call for us to do better. If your group would like to return, please contact us ahead, and we will gladly waive the tasting fee. We hope you will come back.
Nissley is a nice drive from our neck of the woods, and nicely situated to accomplish other chores. The prices are always really good. This last trip, we got a case for less than $114, which is amazing with PA's tax on wine. The rose' that was on sale was great and a perfect wine for warm weather. We've done the tour in the past and the facility is nice. Highly recommended.
My husband and I decided to give Nissley a try because we actually like their wine a lot, and drink it fairly regularly, it being accessible at a nearby shopping mall store and the local wine & spirits. We were staying in the area at an inn for the weekend, and the innkeeper said we could do a better tour than Nissley. However, because we like their wine so much, we decided to do the visit anyway. We arrived right as it opened at 10am. We were greeted warmly by two ladies on the front porch. They got us set up with our self-guide tour books, and we were on our way. The booklet was informative and interesting. I liked being able to take our time and move along at our own pace since I'm a photographer. The end of our tour was topped off with a free tasting. They lady who did our tasting was personable and sweet. We ended up buying 2 bottles of the Grapeful Dead and 1 bottle of the Raspberry dessert wine, which my husband and I agreed were our favorite. I wouldn't mind visiting sometime for the concert series. That sounds like a lot of fun!
I came to this vineyard for the Valenwines Weekend with some girlfriends. The tasting was expertly executed and unique to the other vineyards we had been to. I have had many of their wines but had never visited the vineyard. I'll definitely be back.
We were not planning a wine tour but my son felt we should have a pleasant experience after tasting terrible wine elsewhere. He took us to Nissely Vineyards where our experience was in sharp contrast. Merlot tasted like a merlot worth sharing with friends. My wife especially liked the Rhapsody in Blue. We bought five different bottles total at half the price at Moon Dancer Winery.12/22/14
If you have time on a Saturday night this is a must to do on your list , great bands play and food to purchase as well as wine but I would recommend bringing your own Nissley wine with you to avoid the wine line , the crowd to very pleasant and laid back atmosphere . I would also suggest getting there around 6 to get a nice spot there are two dance floors or just dance anywhere as some do . We brought friends from out of town and they are already looking to come back , bring your chairs table and food as all do , no beer allowed , or pets and under 21 . so enjoy adult time . there also is a 15 .00 cash price to get in .
We have visited the winery for tastings, and especially enjoyed the Music in the Vineyard concert on July 5. It was a perfect evening with great weather, sitting in the beautiful outdoor setting while the sun went down and sipping their great wines (My favorite is Rhapsody in Blue.). When the music began, the great band had us and many others dancing all night. Don't like to dance? Then just sit back, enjoy the music, the lovely evening, and each others' company.
Just out trying local wineries and happened upon Nissley. Beautiful location and grounds. Not that difficult to get to. Wine tasting was upstairs in the manufacturing room. Not that glamorous. One of the most organized tastings I have ever attend. Wines run from sweet to dry and they start you off with one to taste so they can recommend which direction to go to. No charge for the tasting. Wine prices were good. Restrooms are a bit of a hike, but are clean.
Beautiful estate, it was snowing so we couldn't explore too much but they do offer guided and self guided tours. I am very impressed with their dry wines, they were by far our favorites, those grapes are very hard to grow in PA so they definitely have that down. I would want to go back and learn more about the wines, we went on a special weekend and there was a lot of people so we just got served the wine and that was it, no talking or explaining the wines.
