One of the most beautiful basilicas which I have seen. Several gentlemen were there to help you to learn of its history and importance to the city of Bari
The "Basilica di San Nicola" is a wonderful spot not to be missed in Bari, Italy. It is well venerated by local and foreigners. It's an experience in it's own right.Recommended.
The church impresses by simplicity. The crypt requires respect and admiration. We were there before 6 December celebrations and we have seen the service of removing the statue of St. Nicholas and placing it in the altar. With holiday lights around the church atmosphere was unique.
certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in Bari....free entry.Crypt was pretty cool......nice church
The architecture of this church is unique, combining the simplicity of the aisles with the incredible richness of the paintings on the roofs. Not to mention the intimacy of the crypt, where Christians from all confessions pray together hand in hand. A must while in Bari, regardless of your own confession or beliefs
Very beautiful basilica with a impressive basement.I had no idea about the involvement of St Nicholas in Bari
This is a Roman Catholic cathedral with a Russian Orthodox church with St Nicholas's 'relics' in the crypt. The simple Romanesque building is very attractive we found but the most special element is the crypt where the Russian Orthodox priest was chanting a service beautifully. This is a place of great pilgrimage to the Orthodox church and we passed a large group arriving as we were leaving. a very special house of God.
The whiteness of its walls. The irregularity of its structure. The vastity of its interior. The charm of the crypt.
We enjoyed our visit to this historic place. It is very beautiful inside. Lots of beggers outside the basilica though.
Unfortunately being restored...difficult to see the outside, but very beautiful inside...waters edge, cool severe almost undecorated
