The most amazing race track and experience in the world. The 12 hr race at Bathurst is a must do every year for my friends and I
This is a must do when in Bathurst. The sights from the top are wonderful. Go slowly and enjoy it all
Avery exciting place, especially after just watching the 12 hour race start at 5.50 am. There is another race meeting coming up at Easter and its just as good, then there' the Bathurst 1000 in October
An absolute must visit, do a lap of the track which is a public two way road while not in use as a race venue, magnificent views from McPhilamy park at the top of the mountain, which has BBQ facilities as well as a nature reserve. Well worth a visit.
One of Bathurst's attractions is the world class Mount Panorama racing circuit where several endurance races are held annually, such as the 1000km SuperCheap Auto race. The circuit is normally a public road which is unique and extremely challenging for cars and drivers due to its mountainous nature. Some of the world's greats have raced here, and the 24 Hour race still attracts international drivers. Several Australian Grands Prix have been held here, the first in 1938, and heats of the Australian Tourist Car Championship are also held here. There are long straights and extreme corners that take their toll and bring on some spectacular crashes. The scenery is appealing and the whole circuit is lined with rural properties with orchards, wineries and homes. This circuit is arguably one of the most difficult major circuits in existence, and the attrition rate is high. It has claimed no less than sixteen lives in car and motorcycle races during its long history. Bike races have been discontinued due to the circuit being too dangerous. For the onlookers the spectacle is exciting and absorbing. The Mount is able to be enjoyed almost anytime, and great views are available from the summit. But use caution and drive slowly, as accidents can occur even for the tourists that visit. Right at the entrance to the circuit is the Motor Racing Museum, which houses quite a number of the vehicles that have featured in Panorama races. It has a great display of many motor sport items including race cars and bikes. Well worth a visit. No motor sport enthusiast should miss a visit to Mount Panorama, it is a legendary place.Better still is to attend the 1000km race sometime and experience the excitement first hand.
You must take a drive around this most iconic raceway - it has a whole lot of history, especially if you a car racing fan from way back. Drop into the museum and take a look at some of the old relics, and pick up a certificate to say you've done a lap of this great raceway..! A must if your passing through..
There's no way you can visit Bathurst and not drive the course...whether you love motor racing or not it's just a must do. Yahoo.
was not very user friendly. no seating or shade, lift was filthy and water on the floor. had chips for lunch and had to throw them out as they were raw
Great fun to scoot around this legendary circuit on the motorbikes. Got some great footage on the Go Pro. Watch that you maintain 60kmhr as the police love to frequent this area. Watch for oncoming traffic.
Without doubt the best motor racing circuit in Australasia and in the top 3 in the world. Until you have experienced a motor race in person you have no idea of how different it is to watching on TV
