Love the feel that you have stepped back in time. I just wish they had more stores with current merchandise, like gift shops with local items and clothing stores and not so many antique stores.
This is a small town with interesting shops. There is free parking and everything is within walking distance. I spend a couple of hours there every time I am in the area.
Great place to just walk around with family and friends. Being in the mountain region gives me a different feel anyways, being in Bedford and the Peaks of Otter area make it special for me always.
Centertown Bedford is loaded with small local shops, and restaurants. A very nice place to stroll around and kill a few hours, and grab something to eat.
Beford is a nice little town. Not a lot to see, but if you like antiques there are a few shops with quite a large selection. The day were were there (Monday) most of the artisan shops were closed, so can't really review those. The Town Kitchen Bistro is wonderful - a must for breakfast or lunch. I would give them a 5 star if they were out on Trip Advisor! The same couple owns the Millstone Tea Room, which we will visit next trip. If the Town Kitchen is any indication, the Tea Room will be wonderful.
After reading some reviews we wanted to stop and take a look. Cute but was not worth getting out of the car for. There was not much to see or do.
Town is squeezing the life out of Centertown, with outrageous electrical charges, and taxes that make no sense at all. ..that ultimately takes any decent profits. Stores open, and close. It's a pattern for the last 20 years.
Welcoming and lovely, I felt at home when folks stopped to chat. The quaint buildings gave me a lost-in-time sense which was perfect for my visit.
This is just a special little town set below a lovely mountain range. Go any time of year . . . and just enjoy eating downtown and walking around looking into shops, etc.
Nice shops and eatery's and plenty of on and off street free parking.
