A very nice view and panorama of all city. Brilliant place to take some pictures and see Bergamo from above.
If you're travelling around Milan, DON'T MISS A TRIP to Bergamo Upper Town and its huge Cinta Muraria (Old Walls rounding the entire Upper Town). The Upper Town is boldly embraced by this ancient walls, and a walk along them will allow you to witness the majesty of this Medieval town, and acknowledge the wide plains of Bergamo province, spotted by churches and soft lights at night. Very romantic to seat along the Walls and have a talk with your beloved at sunset! Enjoy.
Magnificent view. Bergamo is worth a visit. If you don't have the time, forget Milan and go to Bergamo.
Nice walk with spectacular views of Bergamo.. nice way to introduce yourself to the city and enjoy the fresh air
Taking the walls alone, I would say those are not so special and look like other old city walls in Italy, however they are well maintained and represent the perfect frame to encompass the gorgeous "Cittá Alta".
It doesn't cost a thing and is extremely pleasant. Just make your way around the walls to see the lower Bergamo from different angles. Great spot to take pictures.
Cinta Muraria di Bergamo(meaning walls of Bergamo) are the guard walls of the old town built in XVI century. It's an about 6km long stone structure that encircles the old town-Citta Alta. The height of the walls in some places reached fifty meters. There are 4 gates in the walls:Sant'Agostino, San Giacomo, San Lorenzo and Sant'Alessandro.Three of them are daily crossed by a lot of cars (the porta San Giacomo is pedestrian only), particularly the Porta Sant'Agostino which is the main entrance to the upper town, because of its direct accessibility from the city centre. From some points you have a magnificent view of the Citta Bassa-the new part of the town.
Walking along the walls in the sun is something that you really should do during your stay. For a better view though, head higher to the campanone.
The Cinta Muraria di Bergamo is very nice. August 2014 it was unfortunately covered up for maintenance. What was not obscured was lovely. Worth a walk and very near a path up the hill to Citta Alta.
The walls were built by Venetians to protect the town, now they are the tourist attraction. It was very nice to walk along and watching the Citta Bassa located below.
