It was very exciting to photograph a peacock with his tail fanned open.there are nice water features, lots of wildlife, a disc golf course, a new snack bar. The park is very spacious and rarely feels crowded.
I enjoy taking my elderly mother and grandkids to Hart Park to see the Peacocks. Most of them are around the group picnic area by the old mill. There is a fenced in maintenance yard with old building, and that is where most of them hang out. We take bread for them, and enjoy the males when they open and show their large beautiful tail feathers.
Hart Park is very peaceful during the weekdays. There wasn't a lot of people there on June 30th maybe due to the 106 degree temp. My husband, parents and I celebrated my fathers birthday with a picnic and just relaxing under the large shade trees. Even with the high temp, we were very comfortable. After enjoying our rest and relaxation we drove over to the peacocks for a photo opportunity. If you love photography and nature Hart Park and the peacocks are perfect. The scenery around the river is so pretty and you can get fairly close to the peacocks for some great pictures. Just remember that this is their home and respect the birds. The peacocks are beautiful. I would recommend seeing them at least once. We will definitely go back. There are flush toilet restrooms at the park, not the nicest but they do have them. There are many picnic tables and lots of room to park your car. The park also has geese and ducks, cats, squirrels and skunks, watch out for the skunks they hang with the cats. This is their home. If you are looking for peace and quiet and nature check it out, at least during the weekday.
I love to come and see the peacocks strut around at Hart Park. They are friendly but they don't know when to get out of the road!
This park has lots of Soave to explore! There are huge trees, a pond with geese and an enclosed area with lots of peacocks. It is close to the city so it doesn't take too long to get there. There is lots of tables throughout for sitting and having a picnic. Great for playing frisbie!
then the Peacock area at Hart Park is hard to beat. How did this get listed as a place? The Northeast end of the park is the best viewing area.
Hart Park is a regular favorite local destination. It's a under utilized park with 100s of abandoned and stray cats, dozens of peacocks, 2 small lakes, trails, and the Kern River which runs through it. Also close is Lake Ming, Kern Campground, and big soccer fields used by all the local kids teams.
Couldn't find the exact name for the soccer fields and I know we were in or went through Hart Park. Could not believe the extensive area dedicated to soccer. We were at a major tournament and hundreds if not a thousand kids and families were in the park. An outstanding experience. The fields were very well maintained, the individual fields were well numbered for easy access. The bathrooms as is typical in public parks could have used some refreshing but overall a very enjoyable experience. Didn't know about or see any Peacocks unfortunately. Next time!!
When someone told me about Peacocks I instantly asked where I needed to go to see them. When I got there I didn't see them at first and then walking into the park I started to notice that there were soo many of them just wondering around this park. This is their home and it was absolutely beautiful. The only thing that I did not enjoy about this park is that there were parents and their children that were chasing the Peacocks into trees, fences and even into the roads. It was disappointing as another adult. They really need security at all times at this park to preserve these Peacock's home.
Went to Hart Park to see the peacocks and also got to see a raccoon! We have been taking our grandson out to see the peacocks since he was 2 years old and he still loves it at age 7.
