We love the drive ins. We don't go often because we either don't like the movies they are showing or don't feel like getting in line 2 hours before the movie to get a decent SUV spot. We also wish that they would have fixed the independent speakers rather than getting rid of them.
This is a great place to go & watch a movie when the weather is nice. You can watch from inside your car or take chairs & sit outside. You can buy snacks there or take your own food. Nice location.
Where can you take a family of four to see two movies for $20? And be able to bring all the snacks and food your kids enjoy? Skyview! We have been visiting here for over 6 years. Never had a bad visit.
Stopped here as we drove cross country. Movies don't start till dusk but are a double feature. Full snack bar available. Lots of families there with picnics and baskets. Great fun.
This place is the real deal... Two screens, value pricing per car, bring snacks with you or indulge at the huge snack/drink bar. There is still a playground for kids before the first show. Sound can be piped in through your stereo these days for better quality. It's our kids' favorite way to see movies. Only drawback can be weather.
We watched a kids' movie at the Skyview Drive-in for the first time yesterday & it was so much fun! It was much better than I expected. We arrived early, about 10 mins before the box office opened, and had no problem getting a good spot. But, we did cram the entire family into my husband's smaller vehicle (instead of our minivan) because we wanted to get a closer "white" pole spot for "low rise vehicles." That seemed to work out well. They did have some spots for larger vehicles, at "orange" poles in the 1st two rows, but I thought those rows might be a tad too close. The kids enjoyed playing on the playground in front of screen #1 and it helped pass the time quickly (the box office opens about 2 hrs before the movie starts.) We got some popcorn at the concession stand & it was yummy. But, we also brought our own snacks and drinks (even alcohol is allowed) so that made it an even more enjoyable and affordable experience. The sound is broadcast via the FM radio so we brought a small "boombox" that is battery-operated so that we wouldn't drain our car's battery. It sounded great, especially since everyone else has their own radios, so it's more than stereo. The view of the screen was great too! I was worried that with others' vehicle hatches/trunks open, we might not see the entire screen, but the movie was high enough on the screen that we could see everything fine. All in all, I'd definitely recommend it as an affordable and enjoyable movie experience for families, couples, or groups of friends. For $10 per adult, you get 2 movies and 2 free kids (12 & under) per adult. So, our entire family of 5 was able to see 2 movies for $20 (less actually because we used a Groupon.) We'll definitely be going back!
The skyview drive-in is a fantastic outing for friends, families, and couples alike. For $10 a person, you can watch two movies on huge screens, experience a nostalgic setting, bring all the food and drinks you wish, have access to clean bathrooms and a cheap concession stand, and a great night out! All the spots are awesome (even if you end up in the back, it'll be okay) and the tellers are friendly and helpful! Very worth it, and I will be visiting a few times every season.
It's like going back to the 60's with movies and popcorn, huge dill pickles, hot dogs and soda pop!!! Bring a blanket and sit on the hood of your car, or back up and sit in the bed of your pickup and experience a real blast from the past!
We went on a Friday night. Two vehicles, three adults, four children. It was our first visit and it was already dark when we arrived. Our car went through first and we were told to park by a white pole 'near the playground'. It was DARK. We did not see any playground, so we headed towards the while poles we could see (ie: closest) and parked. My friend followed in her van and parked next to us. We got all unloaded, chairs and kids and snacks and sodas - a few of us went to the snack bar for popcorn - came back and the van was gone! Seems my friend was told that she had to park in the last row because of the size of the vehicle. Ok, the van was over there and we all kept sitting by the car. The movies started, we could see both screens (should have paid better attention when parking, as having the other screen right directly in your field of vision is distracting). The kids noticed right away that the sound we heard was synced with the OTHER screen....A man came walking by telling everyone a different radio frequency than the one we had been given at the box office (with our trashbag). We asked him which film was showing on the screen we were in front of -- it was NOT the children's movies, it was scary adult movies! So, we had to load up the kids, snacks, chairs, etc. and try to find two spots together, on the edge or the back, without headlights since others were watching (and enjoying) the film while we missed the beginning. When somebody TELLS you it's their first time, it's much more helpful to say THE FAR SCREEN is the kids' movie, than just 'park by a white pole'. Other than this rocky start to the evening, it was enjoyable. It was a beautiful night though we needed sweaters by the second movie. (We could have gotten into the car, but we were also looking at the sky and even saw a shooting star!) The snack bar is limited. Pizza would be a welcome addition to the menu of popcorn, burgers, hot dogs, and nachos. They did bring out coffee and hot chocolate when it got chilly. Next time we will bring more snacks and paper towels (there was an incident with spilled ketchup and only a few napkins to clean the mess). Also, a flashlight would be helpful to find things without turning on the interior lights of the car, We'll be going again next year - and plan to arrive earlier so the kids can use the playground.
It is family friendly and shows a double feature. The cost is $10 per adult and 2 kids get in free per adult admission (12yrs and under). They allow you to take in food and coolers. There is a playground for the kids until the movie starts. You listen to the movie through the car radio or sit outside of car in your lawn chairs and listen through your portable radio (boom box) - no speakers are provided. Offers movies for adults and movies for children. Fun with family and friends. It is outdoor style so don't expect overly clean - bathrooms were port- a- potties on last visit.
