reminds me of wineries in Napa. Very comercial and turistic. Definitely interesting but other local wineries will offer you a better experience and more attention!
I took the tour offered by them where you get to see the steps of the wine making, in my opinion it could be better explained. After the tour they will take you to taste two types of wine and two types of sparkling wine and if you wish you can buy some of their products in the factory store.
Unlike some other viniculas this wine house actually shows and tells something instead of basically being a commercial to buy wine. We did the tour which was still R$ 10 (will be R$ 15 starting from feb 2014). Our tour guide told lots of interesting things about wine production and tasting. We tasted 4 wines which were all very good. The tasting session was in a stylish room, using good wine glasses. An impressive part (to us) was the 24 types of grapes, from each of which they had a row of plants growing. To improve the tour, more could be told and shown about the differences between the types of grapes, how they grow, how they're harvested etc.50% of the entrance price can be used as a discount to buy some wine -- which you'll probably do :).
Vale a pena!
Make sure to participate in one of the premium tastings. They are either R$40 or free with a voucher from Hotel & Spa do Vinho across the street. Try the 2011 Millesime sparkling wine as well as the Sesmaria.
Passeio maravilhoso. Lugar bonito. Vale a pena visitar.
We were not interested in a tour or a formal (R$10) tasting. Once they determined we spoke english we were connected with an person in the store who helped us and gave us a couple of complimentary tastings. This winery has grown in the last 7 years since our first visit and with that growth comes higher prices. We did not spend much time here but we did buy a couple of wines and a grappa. We brought the grappa back to Canada. We sampled it and found it very acceptable.
If you love your wine, it is intriguing to go and check Brazil's wine growing region. Miolo is the biggest and most developed of all and the wine isn't bad. It's not awesome, but it's not bad. The broader region is certainly worth an explore and if you wanted to go behind the scenes of a working winery then Miolo is decent place to do it.
