By Montana standards this is a great art museum. They try hard to bring the best shows that Billings, MT can support. It is a great building with good staff, and a respectable permanent collection.
Mediocre at best, trying to bring "culture" to Billings. There are infinitely more interesting and quality museums in the country.
This museum is well worth a visit, multiple visits even. My favorites are right next to each other, the Signac downstairs under the stairs, and the installation piece that reacts with the weather.
Manageable, well appointed art museum. Lots of Western Art as you might expect. Historical exhibits are great. Fine small snack bar and restaurant.
Enjoyed being in the cool amongst the beautiful art - like an escape from the city. Its worth going.
We really enjoyed it and it was $12 for the entire family. It's rather small so it didn't take us long to walk through it but we went while the Lego exhibit was there an that was amazing! We will definitely keep an out for new exhibits and go often! Also, don't forget to ask to see the vault across the street. That is very interesting as well!
Enjoyed seeing the western art. Liked the displays and visual optics of the museum Go and see yourself!!
Loved this place. Even the kids loved it. Amazing to be surrounded by such creativity. We would go again!
I was in Billings for a family medical emergency...the winter weather was extreme...I went to the museum and really enjoyed myself...the natural light was the first thing I noticed....the display of space was very different from other museum....the staff was great and the children's art was fun to look at...and so full of energy...I would go back and take my family....all museum need to be visited and enjoyed...its just part of the visit when traveling
The YAM's current exhibitions, Face to Face, Wall to Wall and Unconscious Bent are world class! If you have not had the opportunity to view these shows, you truly are missing out...the one and only contemporary art museum in the region offers some of the best art in the area!
