If you're looking for a place for a 3 to 5 mile walk or bike (or more if you want to do some loops,) this is it. Paved paths circle a pond (watch out for goose poop…..they tried to drive them away but Canada geese know a good thing when they see it too) then edge the Chenango River, through woods and some open areas, benches along the way. The only drawback is highway noise, but it's a tolerable price to pay for this free diversion near the heart of the city. Picnic areas are nice and well used by family groups, particularly around the playground, which is one of the nicest playgrounds for preschoolers and early elementary ages that I've ever seen. Maintenance is excellent. A real democratic and family-oriented park…all socioeconomic levels use it. Paths are best shaded in morning before 10 am and later afternoon, as the trail is on a north-south axis.
Wonderful park! Binghamton has limitations for walking, biking, picnicking, just chillin outdoors. Thank God for Otsingo!
Otsiningo Park was where I learned to ride my bike, ate a kings share of speedies, saw hundreds of hot air balloons lift off and got to spend some rare quality time with my family.
I was the only person in the park last Sunday when the Wind Chill Equivalent Temperature was -30 Fahrenheit but the sidewalks were plowed and salted and I had an exhilarating experience (I usually have good runs here even when the weather is more conducive for it).
This is a lovely 2.5 mile walk in the city center, no matter what the temperature. I miss it very much.
We were just here for the spiediefest and balloon rally this past weekend. What a great time !!! This is so very well run, year after year. We took my grandson this year and this was one of the best ever. Very well organized, clean and safe for everyone. THANK YOU !!!!!!
The playground here was perfect for our trio of 9-year olds and they had some equipment I'd never seen before. There's a trail that goes around the park which was scenic and made me forget that I was getting quite the workout. Just be careful because there's a lot of goose poop around. The bathrooms were clean - not great, but ok. A must-see if you're in the area and fantastic for letting the kids blow off much-needed steam.
I grew up nearby this park. It has a great paved running biking path. There are soccer fields, volleyball courts, duck pond, along the river, great unique playground. Lots of parking, restrooms. Beautiful!
The park is beautiful and a great place to walk but I had to give up because the sidewalk is literally covered in Canadian Goose crap. It's not worth the aggravation.
The location is wonderful, very accessible from nearby neighborhoods. The park is great for kids. But if you're trying to use the walking paths, they are often covered in feces. They also don't enforce the no smoking rule. But it's still a very nice park.
