After walking a mile up the hillside to view the Tigers that were to be on loan from another zoo we found a sign instead that stated they would arrive at the end of June, We were there July 27th and still no tigers. The penguin area was filthy as well as the otters swimming area. The water was green and the otters viewing building had a horrible smell. Lots of signs proclaiming future exhibits along the trails. There were no wolves in the wolve exhibit.A sad zoo to say the least. If not for the historic Carousel you would be wasting your time. Shame on the city of Binghamton for letting this historical zoo lapse into such disaray.
No cost for a nice ride with my grandson. Thank you !!!! Very nice people and just about no wait. So very nice to be able to do something nice at no cost. Great for a family on a budget.
It was wonderful to experience the ride that so many others have enjoyed for so many years! Such a beautiful piece of history.
Ross park is a good place to relax. The carousel was fantastic also. The park is great for families as are the trails. A nice day getaway.
One of the nicest carousel you will find anywhere (in original condition, but well maintained), The zoo does not have many animals, but the walking trails up the mountain are great.
All Broome county carousels are free to ride. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day . All have been restored . They are quite enchanting !
Woke up to the whisper in my ear..,we're going to the zoo today...and Max is coming too!!'We are seniors - newlywed 1 yr - and I have no children until now as 'grandma'What a delightful day...sweet animals ..small enough to wal k..stop when you want to .. eat ..enjoy watching Max age 9...7 and get his mind learning new things ..like prehensil tail ...guess that one!Ehausted and delighted we wandered down the hill to the Exit ..saw the 1 mile marker ..tired Max age 9 ..took a fairwell ride on the beautiful carousel! Got lots of pictures ... so glad we went to the ross park zoo!
Its not some crappy little carousel with outdated machinery and broken down horses, its well taken care of, and its free! You dont have to pay admission to the zoo to ride the carousel! Its a very good size, and again its free! you cant get any better than that!
I am not a big fan of zoos, but this Zoo i grew up with and is a small Zoo with big heart. It has changed and down sized through the years and almost closed. It has one of the old and famous Binghamton Carousels there and free to ride. Plus it is right next door to the Discovery center. Lots of places to picnic and cook out.A nice day adventure combo with the kids, Ross Park Zoo and The Discovery Center!!
All six of the carousels around the city were great! Will look forward to going back again next time
