Sherry and her husband are very nice people - meeting them is as nice a treat as the ice cream! We love stopping in for an ice cream and sitting out back overlooking the creek. Of course, we always have to feed the 'pet fish'. There is huge carp that hang out Spring through Fall - lots of them! If you have a child that wants to see some fish - bring them to Pappy's!
My husband and I stop here every time we're in the area. There is a wonderful collection of shops with a wide variety of merchandise. rustic country decor, fancy decor, great food items, antiques, toys, home made fudge... the list goes on. Situated on the river, it's a beautiful area. The shop keepers are so friendly and helpful, they are delightful to talk to. We always end up visiting a while as well as picking up some great stuff! Can't wait to visit again!
My wife & I travel to Blairsville, Ga. two or three times a year and stay at Clarks' Haven in Paradise Hills Resort & Spa. Pappy's is only about a mile down the road, and we never miss going there to see what we can't live without. It's a fun place, where you can spend a while looking at all the unique items that they have there. You can also treat yourself to an ice cream cone, and feed the big family of trout out back. You might even see people tubing down the river since a starting point is next door to the Trading Post. There are several other fine shops for tourist or residents of the area. The latest addition to the Pappy's area is a great little museum, which you can probably tell by the picture is pretty funky, but a good museum. The owner is a car collector, but it goes beyond that. You can preview an area for free, but to see the remaining area there is an admission fee of $5. The shop owners/managers are all friendly, and most recognize us each time we visit. There also is a restaurant in the complex and a fenced in area of exotic chickens for a photo opportunity. Enjoy yourself, it's a fun way to spend a little time in Blairsville. Further down the road is Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia at about 4,900 ft., Vogel State Park, and the beginning or the end of the famous Appalachian TrailFYI: Paradise Hills Resort recently added a winery, where they have wine tastings & sometimes have live music. It is open to the public. You might want to check it out while in the area. Call 877 745-7483 for further info.
This was a great find as we just expected to find a little store. It turned out to be a little village along the river and it was amazing shopping. There is something for everyone.
It is always fun to visit Pappy's. It is always interesting, unique and has a great view of the river.
It was so much fun seeing all the stuff that they had !! Some of the stores were closed being not in tourist season...It was nice though seeing all the things that was opened!!
This complex popped up out of nowhere. Our family with kids enjoyed feeding chickens and fish, buying homemade fudge and shopping around the different country stores. We grabbed a bite to eat in their restaurant. It was delicious. We skipped the museum ($5 entry).
This is a great place for Sunday lunch and a browse around!! And there's ice cream in the store for desert!!
"Never Open" our winter hours are Thursday -Monday 10-5 Sundays at open at 11. Every store is individually owned. As for Pappy's Trading Post we are only closed two days a week and only in the winter! I work very hard to make sure my store is up and running unless an emergency. We hope you can catch us on your next visit
Whenever we get a hankering for an Ice Cream Cone, we head out to Pappy's. There's no place better to enjoy ice cream as you sit by the river and watch life go by. Try it sometime and let me know what you think. I promise you - you won't be disappointed!
