My children really liked the museum. Very interesting displays and artifacts to see. Fairly inexpensive way to pass an hour or two with kids.
We stumbled upon The Dinosaur Museum while passing through Blanding, Utah. This place was great!!! Much larger than I expected, and very educational. I saw things here that I hadn't seen in other museums. I am 34, and my boyfriend is 41. No children with us on this trip, and we totally enjoyed this place. Learned so much. We were the only ones there. Probably doesn't get a lot of traffic, but should. I highly recommend this.
This was a great place to take the kids. Even my girls, who are not big dinosaur fans, loved it!! There is something for everyone to learn. The exihibits are great. Totally enjoyable afternoon for all of us. Fun and educational!!They had a nice gift shop (as my kids (ages 9-11) feel it is very important to buy a souvenir everywhere!!)
Quite honestly, I was pleasantly surprised how good a museum it was for a small town like Blanding. Entry fee was $5, which is dirt cheap for the things you see in this museum. I guess not many people know about it as I and my wife were the only ones visiting. I got to know about this museum when i stayed overnight at a Super 8 in Blanding on my way from Moab to Natural Bridges Monument. The museum itself in very well kept and has some amazing dinosaur history. There is a lot to see and learn here if you spend couple of hours in this museum. It's the best dinosaur museum I've seen yet. I highly recommend it.
Whist we were travelling in Utah as part of a National Parks tour we were passing Blanding Utah and our guide told us about a small dinosaur museum he had heard about. We decided to detour to visit it. After a couple of abortive attempts we found the museum. And wow - what a find! This is not a dry stuffy place. It is amazing. An incredible collection of all sorts of exhibits that explore dinosaurs, features an extensive feathered dinosaur exploration, and then.... you come across a fantastic collection of comics, movie posters, memorabilia and much more - all on the theme of dinosaurs and other monsters. The young lady who sold the entrance tickets gave us a guided tour and commentary and her knowledge and enthusiasm were fabulous. Brought the stories to life. She was brilliant. I loved this place. It is a real find and I even bought the t-shirt! Look at the web site for more, a short review does not do it justice.
Museum has very unique things about dinosaurs that you don't see in most museums. They had cool artwork about early depictions of dinosaurs, a unique collection of movie posters of dinosaur movies, and an exhibit that explored the question of if dinosaurs had feathers. Way cool place for kids and adults alike!
Before we left this Lil town of Blanding, we stopped here. Best $3.50 (per adult) spent at a museum! Mostly dinosaur memorabilia from over the years but it was really cool. Especially the movie part. There wasn't so many fossils but we still had a great time.
If you, or your children, have ANY interest in dinosaurs whatsoever, you MUST add this to your to do list! This was a very pleasant surprise, and there was a lot to see and do there. The admission fee is very reasonable, the gift shop is very cute and we found lots of goodies there, and the museum itself is very educational and well maintained. One of my favorite parts was the Hollywood aspect - I really had NO idea so many movies about dinosaurs were made! It is a very interesting museum with a lot to see, and it's not huge so you don't feel overwhelmed. Absolutely worth the trip even though it's kind of in the middle of nowhere - I just wish more people were aware of it.
Awesome museum! A must stop in Blanding. Kids and adults loved the dinosaurs. The movie posters were a welcome and unexpected surprise. We almost didn't stop because the museum looked closed and deserted when we drove into the parking lot. Thank goodness we we didn't follow our first instinct. Well worth the time. All four kids, ages 6 - 17, had a great time exploring and taking pictures.
We stopped here on our way between Monument Valley and Mesa Verde. The kids loved this, as they all love dinosaurs. It was interesting. Kind of hot in some parts of it (July 2013). Very educational and a nice break from driving.
