We have been visiting Twin Rocks Trading Post for well over a decade... with each visit, our appreciation of the place and the people increase. The staff - Barry, Steve, and Priscilla - are the real thing, raised in Bluff and raised in "the trading post business." They know personally many (most?) of the native artists who have produced the items in the post... their support of and encouragement to these wonderful artists should be a model to all in similar enterprises. Whenever we have made a purchase from Twin Rocks, we have felt sure that (1) 100% authentic, (2) it was absolutely top quality, (3) it was priced fairly, and (4) the artist was well compensated for her/his work. Over the years, our visits have resulted in something of a friendship with the good people of Twin Rocks Trading Post... each time we return it's as if we've "come home."
Suggested by the owner at the Kokopelli Inn we decided to give it a try. Diner, Hmmm, not very promising. We arrived to find a friendly staff anxious to please. After two weeks on the road we craved something other than greazy, high Calory road food. What we got was very much like home cookin'. Good home cookin'! Breakfast was just as good the next day. Watch out for that Navajo fry bread. It is so good that you could become addicted!
We visited Twin Rocks Cafe and Trading Post in August of 2008. We are still talking about our "amazing find" almost a year later. We had taken a ride from the Four Corners to Mexican Hat and Monument Valley, and stopped here for lunch with our four year old. What an amazing place. The cafe was reasonable and the food was good, but the setting could not be beat. We did buy items in the gift shop at the cafe, but were unable to spend the time we would have liked to in the actual trading post. We hope to get back here some day.
Nice spot on the way to sightseeing the southwestern United States! Good food, gift shop and photo opportunities for all visiting this small community in the middle of the way. Good place to stop to relax, take a breathe and a few photos. It was funn.
A nice store in the small town of Bluff Utah, which sold a large variety of souvenirs and artefacts.
This was a restaurant and shop! Had a casual restaurant with extremely friendly and helpful servers! And, food was delicious! They had a great souvenir shop at other end of building with nice gifts! We had dinner and then went back for breakfast the next morning.
Made a stop here during a group motor coach tour. Was very impressed with the quality of the local artisans. Silver, turquoise, bollos, some leathers, and many other Native American items. The proprietor can give you details on each piece. All items one of a kind. Send your husband next door to the little diner while you give everything a once over. Go thru the elimination process and THEN show him what appeals to you. If you are in the market for good quality pieces at very reasonable prices that don't support a larger retailer mark-up, stop in Bluff. Not much there. You can't miss the store.
My husband is from the area so while we were down visiting family, he decided that my Valentine's gift would be whatever I selected from here. The Trading Post is in the building next to the restaurant and gift shop. The store is full of gorgeous hand-crafted Native American jewelry, baskets and knick-knacks. Each one has a tag attached to it with the name of the crafts person who made it and the tribe they belong to. You can look them up on their site to see a photo and bio of each artist. This is not cheap junk made in another country but passed off as "real" Native American jewelry. This is the real stuff and it's GORGEOUS!While we were there, a man brought in a hand-made basket to sell to them. They aren't paying these artists just a few dollars and taking advantage of them. I was impressed that they are paying them fairly for their work. This is quality work by people who make their living as artists and crafters. I walked around the store about 10 times looking at everything. Of course, my eye kept falling on the 4 digit items - LOL But, I finally settled on a beautiful necklace finely woven in silver wire. I was impressed when I got home and read the bio of the artist. She doesn't use solder - each link in the chain and the woven pendent is secured with just the silver itself. It's a piece that will become a family heirloom.
A top notch trading post. Real top of the line selections for real collector’s and lovers of Native American art. Real welcoming staff with generations of experience.
