A local attraction in Podgorica. Considering there are not too many of them here, it is not so bad. But again, since the city is so small, 99% chance you will drive through it.
It is a bridge over the river Morača.Very reminiscent of the bridge in Dubrovnik and one in Belgrade. The bridge was officially opened on 13 July 2005, on the anniversary of the uprising of the Montenegrin people against Italian occupation during World War II.The bridge is 140 meters long, a fundamental pillar is 57 meters high.It connects the city center with a new part of town.
Actually we pass through on this bridge and nothing special, on the other hand when I saw this bridge, I was surprised that there is this kind of newly designed bridge. I didn't expected to see that kind of bridge in this poor and small country..
was a good bridge by the montenegran standard but having the Forth bridge on my doorstep kinds of clouds your judgements it was smaller than the ones I saw in Belgrade and Dubrovnik and Split
millenium bridge is a suspended bridge in Podgorica. Is a very good bridge from engineering point of view but in the night with light become magic
Drove over it, walked over, admired it photographed it and as bridges go it works very well. Beautiful what more can you say.
This bridge has everything... Road, footpath, cables... It may look similar to other bridge in the balkan area but why is that a negative? I think more bridges like this should be everywhere. The view is diverse and large, the location just amazing (I mean, where better to put a bridge than over a river) and if you read about the bridge you'll see its actually interesting as any old museum or monument. 5 stars perfect lovely beautiful amazing bridge
This bridge is one of the nice buildings in Podgorica. Exspecially the small bridge West of Millennium bridge is super to walk on as there is no traffic. From this bridge you can watch on both sides the river Moraca or rest and see the people passing by.In East of the bridge you see UNDP office building. It is one of the most energy efficiency bulding in whole Montenegro. On top, you find the first Photovoltaic solar power station of Montenegro with an energy out output of 120 kW. Close to the Millennium bridge there is a very nice cool park to rest. In this park there are several water taps for refreshment.
The new architecture,This bridge is interesting because it is designed more modern. Nothing else ...
people of Podgorica are quite proud of this bridge as it is one of the few notable architectural sights in the city. Due to its cable-stayed design it is similar to some bridges in the vicinity (Belgrade, Dubrovnik), but still it manages to give a pleasing focal point to the center of Podgorica. The surroundings are, on the other side, far from ideal. The closeness of a pedestrian bridge ruins the view and creates a crowdy picture. There are also two notable eyesores nearby: To promote ecology and preserve the look of the Moraca river bank the UN started a project UN Shared Eco Premises (http://www.un.org.me/the-un-eco-premises). This was a building "conceptualised using efficient, ecological technology and a modern design that would equally satisfy the Montenegro Government's commitment to the Ecological State and provide the appropriate joint roof for UN family in Montenegro." The original design is great - unobtrusive but functional. The problem are the two buildings that were additionally built behind the Eco building, ruining the whole idea. The trees that were there gave were cut - and they gave the the final touch to the whole "ecology" theme.
