We go almost every year to one of the very nice exhibitions in Bonn. this time it was better because the text was not only in German, but also in English. if the catalogue had been availab le in English I would have bought it, but although we can read German, it's not always that easy, so the 39€ was a bit steep.
An outstanding exhibition of a fascinating subject. Very well curated and of a nice size, this was one of the best African shows I have ever seen anywhere.
The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany is well-known for its excellent varied programme of exhibitions, i.e. the current one "African Masters - Art from the Ivory Coast".It is a forum for Art and Communication, international and cosmopolitan. The architecture is great:3 iconic cones, designed by the Viennese architect Gustav Peichl. Visiting Bonn you should not miss it.
Very nice relax and cult atmosphere on a sunday morning. Interesting exhibition on Warhol and his peers....Menage a Trois...A litle bit expensive like all museums in Germany but worth to come back. Interesting Museum Mile offer in Bonn. Definitively a good option in NRW.
We visited the Anselm Kiefer exhibition, it was outstanding, best sight in Bonn during our visit there.
It is difficult to review a Museum that only has temporal exhibitions. I went to the Florenz and Villa Romana exhibition. It was very good, with paintures and objects are originally from Florence but they are currently exhibit in some of the major Art Museums in the world including the Ufizzi Gallery. This was the last week, though, so next time you will probably see other exhibition (I think is AvantGarde Russia), in any case, the exhibition space was very good and the food at the restaurant was excellent at very good prices! I had tafelspitz with mustard sauce and as a dessert Kaiserschmarrn!!!
I wandered in here today, partly because I had the Bonn Regio Welcome Card (so it was free) and partly because I had to go the bathroom and partly because I wanted to visit ONE of the museums on the Museum Mile and didn't want to pay the extra to go into the Art Museum next door. All that said, I am very glad I did stop by! They only had one open exhibit, on African Mask-Artists, though one on Space was in preparation and looked interesting.I was not expecting the superb display inside after having wandered through the mono-lingo Landesmuseum earlier today. The entire exhibit was very well done, with every sign in three languages (German, English, and French), with informative and interesting signs on each section and then individual signs with each piece. The multimedia in one room included videos on how various art pieces are produced, from masks, to gold-plated objects, to pottery. They are clear about their intentions with the exhibit and fulfill them admirably. I was very happy and ended up spending over an hour wandering through. One of the gallery guides even came over at one point when she saw me staring confusedly at a piece and pointed out its various features, which was a very nice and fun discussion. It was a good-sized exhibit space and well filled. There were only a handful of other people in there at the time (late afternoon) and I enjoyed wandering through at my own pace. At the end, there was a woman with questionnaires, offering a free drink if I'd fill it out. I did so happily, and think that gathering feedback is a great idea.
Great location which usually has excellent shows. The exhibition about the Irokese Indians however, though interesting, lacks somewhat in the experience quality. The topic no doubt is attractive for children, unfortunately the way the items are displayed relies heavily on written text for context. The long house is the exception and, especially when the weather is warm, offers a very palpable experience of life in a natural environment, full of smells and textures.
Wirklich sehenswerte Ausstellung. Noch bis 22.02.2015 zugänglich. Viele Aspekte der Weltraumfahrt und -erforschung werden angesprochen. Das Restaurant in der Bundeskunsthalle kann empfohlen werden. Gute Speisen. Freundliches, serviceorientiertes Personal.
They have changing exhibitions during the year, it is always suprizing. Good value for the entryfee. I like to go there after work. Not so crowded as it might be on weekends
