Omg! what can i say about such a BEAUTIFUL beach! full of starfish all over the water! the place is a paradise, you can chill under the palm trees while having a cold drink made with fresh fruits. The ¨Bocas del Toro¨ drink is sooo good and it comes inside a coconut! great fro those paradise pictures to show to your family and friends ;) don´t forget your snorkels
The starfish are gone. There are 8 dead ones clustered on the far end of the beach where the waves stop. There isn't really a beach, just a line of chairs, small pop up restaurant booths, port-o-potties and music being played from broken speakers. We opted out of a second day on Bluff Beach to explore this area and it ended up being our biggest regret on our 18 day trip. It really is so sad and tired looking. Save the pricey cab ride and go to Bluff instead. Unless you want to swim, then go to Isla Zapatilla.
We enjoyed our trip to Boca del Drago a lot. Playa Estrella is a beautiful beach with very calm and Caribbean colored water. The place was perfect for our 16 month old boy who played in the water and in the shade of the beautiful trees all day long. Unfortunately, parts of the beach are really dirty because people leave a lot of trash. Also, there are little to no starfish to see. I only hope that people start to realize that they will have to take better care of this beautiful piece of land before it becomes too late. So, if you do not go there for the starfish, you could enjoy a wonderful day at a nice beach including good food. I also heard that it is popular for the locals to hang out at so if you don’t like your beaches crowded, go during the week.
Nice little beach with calm water and great rest. You can actually see the starfish near the shore. I wish people would be more conscious and not try to grab one just to take a picture! We did see someone try to grab one, and immediately, someone started blowing his whistle to let them know it is not allowed to do that. It is far away from downtown, but well worth the ride.
Almost as many boats as people, wish I had read the reviews before going, if you do go, seating is $10 for each lounge chair, There are little slivers in the sand so wear water shoes. People were stepping on the few star fish that we saw or picking them up. Wish we had been here 20 years ago. Oh, and we paid a driver $2.50 to take us to Drago, and he said it was $2.50 to come back but the driver who took us back wanted $3.50 and he was crazy, trying to knock the surf boards out of people's arms, honking at everyone at the side of the road.
We took a taxi ride with a lovely young guy called Yunito and he took us to the most beautiful and undiscovered beaches in bocas Del toro... One of them starfish... What a paradise...a hammock a coconut water...we couldn't ask for anything else.. Thanks Yunito for the amaizing time my husband and I are looking to visit next year! We visit as well Isla pajaros pls Google it, it is incredible.. If you are looking for an honest taxi driver, call Yunito 00507 64924223; 00507 6500722 or 00507 67111843...
One of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches I've been to and the starfish are so pretty. When we went there were less than 10 other people on the beach, i've heard it gets a lot busier in peak season.Worth doing the short hike to the beach on the way there (you can get a taxi from town to the drop off point) and then a water taxi back to your taxi on the way back.
One good tip to save money not getting the tour on boat, is to rent an ATV and go by your self to the closest beach to Estrella (ask the ATV guy) once you are there, just pay a very small amount of money (don't remember how much) for a water taxi which it is used also by the locals, and go to Estrella. This way you will save a lot of money.
A busride away from isla colon centre. The beach is filled with restaurants and bars. We rented a beachchair for 5 dollar. The lobster was good ( in the first restaurant on the beach). Maybe because it was sunday but it was really crowded. Also no starfishes, a bit dissapointing.
I went to Bocas around 5 years ago. When I visited this beach, there were so many starfish that one had to walk carefully. I visited again last week and I found ONE starfish after walking through the whole beach. It was super sad to see what this beach has become. Super loud music everywhere, Its hardly a place to rest or a natural beauty anymore.
