a lovely spot , if it's not windy! visually, the whole picture will be with you awhile....food delicious....
Historical and lovely. Went to a wedding here: everything was perfect: food top notch (I'm an ex-chef) the staff worked like crazy, but invisibly so the day just flowed. A wonderful place.
This wonderful, nostalgic property has lived at least three lives. Once upon a time beginning with its construction in 1903 this was a grand old hotel, then a girls' summer camp, and now a lovely Vermont Inn where events such as weddings, corporate retreats, wine tastings, etc. are held. I spent many wonderful summers at this location when I was growing up, and each time I revisit it, it is a step back in time. I slept in this very same building for nine years as a child and teenager at summer camp. More recently I have been back for reunions. It is an utterly lovely spot on Lake Champlain in Grand Isle, about an hour's drive from Burlington. The Inn looks now much as it always has --- except the rooms have been wonderfully redone, each with a charmingly different decor. Do visit. It is a lovely spot where you can take a step back in time. And yes, it has one of the most amazing wrap-around porches in northern Vermont.
A nostalgic turn of the century hotel carefully preserved for use as a wedding venue. FABULOUS food and service. Best wedding I've attended, hands down.
We got married there and location and views were spectacular!
Every American needs to visit this place sometime.Incredible charm. The Grand Isle Lake House is an historic location where our daughter was married.
This is the place to rock in your rocking chair, and soak in the history of Vermont. Beautifully restored hotel.
We stayed here for two nights for a wedding. It was definitely an experience! The house is an enormous historic property, with all that comes with it. The biggest challenge was the lack of air conditioning, on some 90 degree days. We had a hard time sleeping, even with every window open and fans going. Very convenient to have our own kitchen to use (and store the beer!). We took the short walk to the lake a few times, loved splashing around (but bring your water shoes, lots of rocks). Meals were fresh and wonderful, and the event staff was awesome. Lots of beautiful places to hang out with a book on the property, with stunning views of the lake. My only advice would be to visit during "temperate" times of year, as we sweated through our pajamas... but the lake made for a nice respite. :-)
This is a nice place, but you won't find it in Burlington. It is in Grand Isle!
This is one of the most beautiful venues you can imagine for a wedding. Sadly, when I was here, it was raining but still we had a great time. I spent the night at the lakehouse and the next morning I was able to experience the beauty first hand. During breakfast I took my coffee outside and sat in the Adirondack chairs and let both the sun and coffee warm me as I looked over Lake Champlain and further off, the beautiful green mountains whose foliage was peaking.
