The museum/gift shop was quite lovely and a pleasure to browse in. Staff very friendly. There are signs directing tourists on how to get there but more are needed. I had to stop and ask someone along the way.
Since my husband collects Zippo lighters and case knives, we took the trip to the museum. The way the history was displayed was very easy to follow and interesting. He had taken one of his Zippo lighters that was not working and they fixed it right there free of charge. He also bought 2 more lighters and 2 Case 125th Anniversary knives that are beautiful. The staff were extra helpful. Glad we got to see it!
This was my first visit to the Zippo Museum. I love a good American business success story, and the museum did not disappoint in that aspect. It is a vibrant, interesting museum that makes one proud to be an American. It was also neat to see the repair clinic in full swing. After a pleasant visit, I was excited to pick out my first Zippo and continue to support American jobs. The prices seemed high, but I figured that Zippo's retail pricing would be fairly standard across other retailers. I selected a lighter that I would be happy to carry for the rest of my life. My husband didn't have any luck as the BLU2 lighters he was interested in were out of stock. My disappointment was not apparent until two days later, when I was shopping for a Zippo Blu2 lighter for my husband online. My heart sank when I saw that the lighter I had purchased was almost half the cost at a major online retailer! Caveat Emptor!!!
Quite a nice museum and shop. Zippo repair center is in the same building so bring your broken lighter with you. Extensive Case knife collection. Two great American products!
We went to the Zippo lighter museum as a lark!! We certainly enjoyed learning about the lighter and the legacy..WWII soldiers still talk about getting a lighter in their ration boxes. My uncle told a story when we got home about how a buddy used the light as a beacon.....the attendant was very knowledgeable about the history and gave me a souvenir---a penny that had not been spent on the repair of a Zippo...they are guaranteed for life!! We also recognized most of the movies showing the Zippo
Located at 1932 Zippo Drive in Bradford, PA, this museum has thousands of examples of Zippo lighters. There is a short film you can watch at the beginning and then you walk around and learn their history. I didn't know they were used widely by the military. They have a display of an American flag that is made up of red, white and blue Zippos. There are examples of lighters with pictures of just about anything you can think of. In the back you can see the workroom where employees repair the lighters that have a lifetime warranty. They also displayed lighters that couldn't be repaired like the one that went through a garbage disposal or the one that was run over by a train. The rest of the museum showcases Case Knives and their history. There is a large gift shop in the front and computers available for getting information on ordering personalized lighters. My friend's daughter is getting married and she found a good usher's gift. It can be ordered in your color theme, has a saying "Thank you for taking part of our special day", the usher's name, the newlywed's names, and the wedding date. It was not that expensive either. If you're in the area, I recommend visiting this place.
The history of the Zippo lighter is very interesting and pretty cool too. The way it was made and is still today with quality in the USA what more could you ask for.
I have been to the ZAC Museum many times and the staff has always been wonderful! I took my daughter there for the first time this past summer and she loved being able to watch the workers, watching the balls in the ZAC machine, finding pictures with which she was familiar in the AMAZING multi-room display of lighters from all (American) periods of history, statues and stagings, looking at different types/colors of Case knives, seeing the car out front and talking with the friendly staff. Definitely a "must-see" at least once in your lifetime. Don't forget to order a personalized lighter &/or knife! I use them for wedding gifts and people seem to love them!
The Zippo Case museum is a cool place to check out. I took the kids on a Saturday morning just to take a look around. There were many items on display from an American flag made out of Zippo's to a Zippo that saved a soldiers life. The display of different Case knifes were also very interesting. They even have some type of ball machine that the kids got a kick out of watching for a few minutes. If you are in the area, swing by and check it out. The parking and admission is free. They also have a gift store where you can purchase Zippo and Case items.
Living in this area, I have visited this museum many times, especially when we have out of town guests. Recently remodeled - it is now better than ever. There is so much to see while there. Don't miss the intro video which offers good background info on how the Zippo came to be. Also interesting is all the history on WWII and Zippo. Kids love ZAC - sort of a marble "ball drop" exhibit. There are many interactive displays to touch too. Very interesting to me is Zippo's connections with pop culture. You'll see how many different films Zippo has "starred" in as well as a variety of lighters featuring rock music. You can even see lighters being repaired in "real time" along with a fascinating display of Zippos that have been damaged in creative ways. ( If Zippo can't fix them - they are replaced!) Along with the museum, there is a great well stocked gift shop where you are sure to find just the right present for many on your list. Adults and kids alike will enjoy a visit here.Stop by soon!
