The spa is located in a lovely rural area. It's beautiful. Over the course of the day, the spa became TOO BUSY so finding a relaxation spot was difficult. The couples massage treatment was really wonderful: deep tissue massage, silence, professional, and registered. The massage therapist are top of their trade. I was however a bit disappointed that there are only two outdoor hot tubs. Although there are several signs that ask the clients to be "silent", many people persist in engaging in too loud conversation with their companions; staff avoid this disturbing situation. We were disappointed that the staff did not have the authority to ask clients to respect common spa expectations. As the spa became busier in the late afternoon, this became a bit of a problem for us. We retreated to the outdoor teepees at the back of the resort but those lack spa quality. The teepees and igloo are an interesting effort to create variety but for us they lacked the spa amenity. The restaurant service and selection are below standard and exorbitantly expensive! I would recommend skipping lunch for those reasons; too much time is wasted waiting for service for a very limited, expensive and unsatisfying menu. The "Morracan bunk bed area" is okay but when you settle in, it gets a bit "creepy" because you wonder who slept here just before me? It was disappointing that there were limited "real fireplaces"; gas fireplaces at a spa just don't cut it! The other "quiet rooms" were deceivingly spacious and uncomfortable. The location, hot tubs cold rinse and dry sauna & steam room are the high points of Balnea. Despite these draw backs, I would probably return for a second try simply for the location in the idyllic country setting.
A bit of a drive down the highway from Montreal but worth the journey. It was a mid-winter, brilliantly sunny day and the area as you drive in to the spa is scenic and charming. Balnea did not disappoint on any level. Great services, had relaxing massage and pedicure. Delicious 3 course lunch with a glass of chardonnay - very reasonably priced. And, of course, the various water treatments which were fantastic. A truly relaxing day. I would go back.
I almost don't want to write a review for Balnea so I can keep it a secret! While it is a bit of a drive (at times you are not sure if you are going the right way or have missed the turn!), it is well worth it and takes you through some beautiful landscape. The price is very reasonable. When you arrive at the spa, it can be a little bit of a walk to the entrance, but once you enter the physical complex you are instantly taken my the clean modern feel with an attentive staff. The towels and bathrobes are thick and warm, perfect for the shock of being cold after getting out of the water. The change rooms were clean with great amenities (showers, shampoo, body wash, hair dyer, lotion, gel etc.) and lockers provided lots of space for personal amenities. The view is absolutely breathtaking; my partner and I were awestruck. There was a great variety of baths and methods of relaxation (ie: floating on the lake, theater, "napping room", lounge with an aquarium, and a marshmallow roasting pit). The staff is very friendly and the facility is constantly being cleaned.I should also note that one of the things that I adore about Balnea 0 cell service once you enter the building.
This spa was absolutely amazing! The setting was stunning. I loved all of the unique relaxation areas. We received exceptional service from everyone we dealt with. The only complaint we had (minor), was that sandals were not provided to guests. After paying $70 for the thermal experience, we were a bit disappointed at having to purchase $20 sandals in order to use the outdoor facilities.
I really love going to the spa when I have some time off either for a treatment or just for the spa experience. Since I've discovered Balnea Spa few years ago, I cannot go anywhere else since it is so incomparable regarding the site, the staff, the food and the overall experience!!! I have to mention the location is simply amazing with the private lake, the astonishing view and the Eastern township forest around the site (it is possible to walk through the forest in the designated path before your spa). Also, the staff at Balnea is extremely qualified. Among them, I have tried many different massage therapists in Balnea Spa and I find always the same very high level and very professional approach. The food is also very unique and great. They just got a new chef that is so talented... I would suggest to look at their website because they always offer some interesting promotion and sometime, we are a little rushed when you arrived to know what is best for you... I also often go only to enjoy the site and the spa experience which is quite diversified and you never feel the place to crowded like in other spa... Finally, the installations are always perfectly cleaned. What else can I say??? It is really the best spa ever... I am lucky to live 5 minutes away but it is still only 50 minutes away from Montreal.
I went there for the restaurant. The word of mouth was right. The new chef made the food experience exceptional. Very creative and passionate. Otherwise, it's one of the best Spa in the province of Quebec.
We had an amazing day of relaxation at this beautifully located spa. The surroundings are absolutely stunning and the facilities are excellent, from outdoor Jacuzzis and a waterfall to a Turkish bath. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food & drink on offer was great too. The price is the same for the whole day, or a few hours ($70pp on the weekend), so bring a book and make the most of the beautiful scenery.
I went to Balnea for an afternoon/evening deal (check their promos online), which was plenty of time for me. The panoramic views from the saunas were great, and the access to the lake also nice, with giant floating mattresses I lounge on. The grounds themselves were very well maintained, and the hot tubs around the grounds were nice, though I did wish they had labelled each one with a temperature and type/source of water. I had dinner there which was also very tasty. One major downside for me...I rode my bicycle to get there and there was no proper facility to lock my bike; I had to scramble to find a suitable post. I realise most of the clientele arrive by car, but maybe if they had better facilities, more people would bring bikes? But overall, a great place to spend a day relaxing.
Nice place, nice surroundings, a must-go if you're a fan of spas! Food a bit on the expensive-side, but...
