had a nice sunday brunch with friends. Good atmosphere and good food. Comparable to most breakfast places.
The Musée au Chocolat is a great place to grab a sandwich special in the afternoon. Nothing on the menu has ever looked appealing enough to sway me away from my usual sandwich selections, but my are they satisfying. Their chocolat salad dressings are great on many things, and the selection of sweets at the entrance makes it difficult to leave without picking up something to go. The waitstaff can be distracted at times but have always been pleasant. Service can be slow during the lunch rush, but I have never felt abused or let down.
The musuem gives you an idea of the chocolat history and has chocolat pieces that are lovely.I would though have expected to find more "local" selections of chocolate then all those imported chocolats.
The building is very nice. Inside, it's a restaurant, a boutique with imported product and a small small counter of fresh chocolat. Not exciting. The museum is ok to learn to history of Cacao and chocolate. Nice stop after a short walk. Didn't eat or buy anything.
The server was rushed appeared flustered the table was covered with leftover scrambled eggs from the party before and when we were seated the server 'waved' a cloth over the surface leaving it relatively undisturbed.Coffee served in the bowl was too hot to pick up to drink (no handles on the bowl which I know is quaint but impractical). One of our party had poached eggs which she felt were cooked to perfection. Another member of the party had an omelette and found it salty and relatively tasteless. One of the party had 'pancakes' but they were actually crepes...which is fine but the server did not know to clarify this when asked if they had pancakes. English is spoken well and it is relatively easy to be understood.
Three of us went in for a spot of hot chocolate and a piece of cake. The chocolate was infused with real chocolate (not powder). Cake slice we shared was a chocolate/orange layered cake with cream - light and not too sweet served with sliced fresh fruit. Perfect afternoon break. They serve breakfast and crepes too.
Located on the quaint main street in the older village centre of Bromont, there were lots of chocolate based products from Canada and Europe plus some locally truffles, etc. It was pretty inside with a cafe. The museum was just some old packaging of chocolates, signs, and some sculptures and posters. Prepare to pay 50 percent or more too much for the products - overpriced as you might expect. The ski hills were closed due to rain so it gave our family a little diversion for half an hour.
It's a misnomer to be called a museum when there are hardly any exhibit. No real people around to explain nor show the uses of the equipment. It's more a gallery of chocolate memorabilia with a store which carries mostly per packaged chocolate you can get any where & not true hand made artisanal gourmet chocolate. Not worth a trip.
Great chocolate and nice restaurant that serves healthy breakfasts. No fried eggs here! Great chocolate carvings in the museum.
I visit the village of Bromont every winter. While the family snowboards, I head off to the Musee. Their hot chocolate - for the dark - if absolutely fabulous. The lunch and breakfast food is very good and all home made. The prices are fair and the wait staff are attentive. Most speak English. In addition to dining, the Musee has a large selection of chocolates in all forms, and more. It's a real quality place and shouldn't be missed if in Bromont.
