i assumed this was the main square but its not- lots of bars, restaurants and a lovely little market situatied on here. leads you onto the winding streets o told old town
I recommend you to start your walk through the old town here ... go along the Danube river and then turn to downtown ... make sure you stop in some sweets shops (cukraren) on your way and indulge yourselves in Slovak pies. They are great and not not sugar loaded.
Direct contact to other Bratislava beauties. Pleasant atmosphere.Old Opera House at the beginning of the square. But too many embassies on one place.
The most fashionable restaurants, as well as an indie movie cinema, university of fine arts an a huge statue of an important Slovak poet (named P.O. Hviezdoslav) , all of them located at the Hviezdoslavovo namestie, one of the places you can find representatives of the hipster movement. Even most of the restaurants are overpriced, once having such lucrative address, you still can find places with a fair deal. Such as the Verne Cafe, situated in the building of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
Lively square in very central location. Walk around, feel the history or visit some of restaurants or pubs surrounding this place.
There is not much more to do at this square than to stroll around but doing that (preferably in "slow mode") you will have the opportunity to see many old but very well treated, historical buildings. If you like to relax by walking and knowing new places do not miss this one.
Lovely pedestrian avenue flanked by shops on one side and the american embassy on the other side, its full of interesting statues and an ornamental fountain, and its a great place for a peaceful walk or to sit down and people watch with an ice cream or crepe from one of the many retailers there.A really delightful way to kill an hour or two.
very nice square with a long pedestrian - only zone.. you can find pubs, restaurants, cafes.. but you can also ice skate :)
This is a pedestrianised area in the old town which is delightful. There are impressive statues water features and numerous restaurants along with play areas for children. It is tree lined which provides shade and along its length are seats for people to relax and enjoy a very pleasant area well worth a visit if only to rest for a while.
Nice Statue in a nice area .. best thing about it is every day at 11am and 4pm there is a free walking tour !! watch out for the guide with the red banner
