This is a very very good and interesting museum. The best thing i liked about it is its perfect short and sweet size. Many museums are huge and displays lots and lots of stuff which becomes boring after sometime. But this one is absolutely perfectly sizes with a lot of different variety marine stuff which keeps you interested throughout the time you spent here. One of the best museums i have ever visited and a certain 'must visit' place in Port Blair. It also houses a small handicrafts shop selling some very pretty stuff.
this museum is an attempt by the authorities to make port blair more attractive and also to educate tourists about the local marine life.Andaman is a paradise for abundant marine species in pristine natural environment.this museum showcases some of them. the collection of corals, conchs and the tribal figurines are beautiful.it is a small museum, but very well maintained.
It is very close to sports complex and is very basic. It has variety od fishes and shells. It takes around 15 minutes to see all. It is comprised of 2 rooms
A small and basic museum ... could have been much better! Definitely lacks an aquarium. Do visit though as some of the corals and shells are quite interesting.
Museum very well maintained by the Indian Navy. Fully air conditioned with cold drinking water and clean washrooms. The exhibits are very well maintained and also the audio visual show is good.
If you have a couple of hours to spare, do visit this place. It is very well maintained and clean. An advice to fellow travelers, avoid the gift shop in this place. It is over priced. The same jewelry which I purchased from the anthropological museum was 30% more expensive here.
This museum has got wide variety of details of the marine life. One should visit this museum before diving. All the showcased fishes are part of the major aquatic life under the sea. Then one can go through the variety of conch shells and corals, that's again very crucial for knowing the corals under the sea...
Very good and interesting museum. The best thing i liked about it is its perfect short and sweet size. One of the best museums i have ever visited and i would recommend it to everyone visiting Port Blair. It also houses a small handicrafts shop selling some very pretty stuff.
If you have flight in afternoon, do plan to visit this place rather than waiting at hotel room :) If lucky you will get to see lobsters fighting each other for corner place and fishes chasing each other in aquarium.
