Don't bother if its cloudy or rainy. Definitely go if the skies are clear. Easy to find, we turned up just before 10, and got on the cable car straight away. Did not bother with eagles feeding time (but would have done if I was travelling with young children). Spent about 2 hours admiring the views over Lake Constance. When we came down, there was a mighty queue for the cable car going up. If we had had more time - or if we are the area again, I would definitely make the time for a leisurely walk back down. Great half day.
Lots of walks from the top and views across the Bodensee. Self-service restaurant available, although there is road access as well so the top is pretty busy.
The gondola in Bregenz is well worth the time and money. The entrance is near the heart of downtown. I think there is free parking in the back, but nearby parking requires slight payment in the parking meter machine at the bottom of the lot. The gondola is a large enclosed cabin with expansive glass. Rising up to 1064 m, close to 3200 feet, it offers an incomparable view of the lake, mountains, valleys and mountain shelf hamlets. There are reindeer, mountain sheep and other animals at the top. The restaurant at the top is better than you think, but certainly a drink on the outside balcony can be breathtaking. I personally had the chocolate mousse and it was fantastic. You can also get an espresso, beer, etc. There are lookout stations too. You can go one way, or round trip. The gondolas go on schedule! Don't miss the last one. Gift shop at top only accepts cash.
This is a must see attraction. The views from the top are simply sensational. You have great views across the Alps and the stunning Bodensee. In winter the mountain views are totally awesome and in summer you can walk down the mountain through beautiful scenery. There is the added attraction of welcoming bars at the very top and you can enjoy Apfelstrudel and a beer in amazing surroundings
A great stop off as we were only spending a day in Bregenz on our way around the Bodensee. Fantastic views of Austria, Switzerland and Germany, Lake Konstanz, the Alps, complete with a mini 'zoo' for the kids, a bird show, and cafes. Well worth the ride.
If holidaying around the Bodensee ( Lake Constance ) area a trip up the Pfanderbahn cable car is a must.Easy to find and tickets are cheap, this is a great way to have an amazing view across Lake Constance and the mountains when you get to the top. When you get to the top, there is a restaurant with open air terrace, a shop with fast food etc, gift shop, kids play area, seating for a picnic etc etc.Breathtaking views over the mountains with lovely crisp clean air.If you prefer, you can get a one way ticket and walk back down or cycle/mountain bike etc.Another great thing is to view the amazing houses below the cable car as it passes over them some of which must cost a fortune !Well worth a trip.
Excellent views & good walking areas at the top. Good to see the animals as well, particularly the Moufflons.

Then via cable car to pfanderbahn. It was excellent view.It is must place to visit specially when wheather is rainy to see the different layers of cloud around you. scenic beauty from pfanderbahn during bright & sunny day.You can purchase Drinks (Beer & othere drinks) & food there and
the entrance is pretty expensive, but the view with the pfänderbahn is absolutely amazing. you can see plenty of Villas and pools, and an incredible view over Vorarlberg. amazing and unforgetable.
We were fortunate to go to the top via cable car on a beautiful clear sunny day. The views were terrific and the walks along the paths were so enjoyable especially seeing some of the local wild life. A must see when in the area - especially on a clear day.
