had no idea Burrawas so interesting or life was so hard for the miners and their families.Great experience and very enlightening
The town has done an excellent job with sign posting elements of the old mine and their history. It is worth a visit, especially to read of how the people of the town worked in the 1800's. Burra should be proud of this attraction.
Loved it, walking outside can get a bit hot but the history of the mine is worth the visit. As you walk along the paths outside you can see bits of blue and green in the gravel from the copper.
Great story about the mining days and excellent views of Burra.Good way to start tour of how the town started and ended.
We didn't have time to explore this historic site, what we did see and read about was interesting. Allow time to explore and visit the old buildings
Any one visiting Burra will have some understanding of the rich history both past and recent relative to its mining history. The town should be proud of the efforts made to preserve the history. All areas are well sign posted, roads are excellent and viewing areas are a credit to this small community. Anyone with an interest in mining history should be encouraged to visit Burra.
The history of Burra is intricately wrapped around the copper mine, and the 20th century protection of the remains was fundamental to so much of the development of heritage legislation. The mine remains are well preserved, with informative sign posting - but it pays to get the key if you want a closer look at the insides of the main buildings. Well worth taking the time!
A look back in time when the settlers were hardy!! We visited in February so not busy, however I suspect in the school holidays it would get congested, therefore visit early in the morning.
The heritage trail is a must. It should be on your bucket list. Its my 4 th trail tour, still loving it
A really worthwhile day will be had, if you get the "entry - key " from the Burra Information Centre and spend a couple of days exploring the Burra mine history and what goes with it. Congratulations to the latest completed project : the old railway station!! What an achievement!!The locals are very nice and friendly also!!
