We stopped for lunch at the Casino after visiting Montezuma's Castle. They are very close to each other. The lunch buffet was good. There was a nice variety of choices. We did not gamble. Much of the casino was closed, we are assuming for remodeling.
We went there a few hours, had a nice time, won some money, ate at the buffet, and went home. Overall a decent experience. There are many retirees playing the slot machines and the place was somewhat crowded on a weekday afternoon. The staff were friendly too and the waitresses frequently asked if the customers wanted drinks. The buffet was just average and some of the food items were just warm ; not hot. I would be willing to go again despite the smoke.
Don't go if you don't like cigarette smoke. This is a smoking casino. We went for the bowling and the Saturday night buffet. The buffet was amazing. Great food and great service. We don't gamble so skipped that part. But you have to walk through the casino to get to the buffet. Lots of stinky smoke.
Besides the usual slots cliff castle casino also offers food, bowling, and a fun place for the kids. A little bit for everyone. If your looking for loose slots and good cheap buffet...this is not the spot.
My husband and I went to the Cliff Castle Casino for Christmas. We gambled some (didn't win), Had lunch at Johnny Rockets (good old fashioned 50"s Food), There was also a small cafe, and a fine dining resturant that we will check out next time. Also they have a full bowling alley, a neon palace pinball room, poker room, and a secure room for children to play in. The childrens room had every imaganable devise to entertain kids, even an Ipad section . This was a fun place even though we didn't win the big time, we will return to check out not only the casino, but the motel attached to it.
Been here twice. First time in 2014 and played some Pai-Gow and 3 Card Poker. This time they had only 4 card tables open with no Pai Gow. The place is smoke filled. Was in Vegas 2 days later and realized how bad Cliff Castle was. If you like slots well it is your spot then. I recall last year that the pit boss noted he had no dealers for Pai-Gow, maybe that is why they eliminated it.
The staff are great, the happy hour prices are good, and the restaurant has good food. So you can't ask for too much more, except maybe bigger jackpot payoffs on slots. There is a good variety of slots to choose from. Have not yet tried the blackjack tables...maybe next month!
This is not the bling and wow of Vegas, but if you like slots it can be entertaining. Mostly retired folks and they have buses and a "hotel" near by. Not bad if you go with the right expectations. I would not call this a "destination" and more of a local distraction if you want to try something different from rocks, hiking and food/wine.
If you want to have a great time playing Texas Hold'em don't skip this casino. I returned here after a two year absence and this place only gets better! Reasonable blackjack starting limits of only $5 and a poker room staff that is friendly, efficient, and well run! They have morning $25 games and a Saturday nooner for $100 with no buy-ins! So if you are in Sedona area and enjoy cards, stop here and have fun!
The overall casino is great just don't stay at the hotel, the casino could use more Game King machines.
