Being a Camaro owner, Johnny Z's immediately caught our interest. We have stopped in on our annual trip through Colorado for the past 3 years, and have had a good experience each time. The gambling is fun. The food samples are offered while you play the machines. It's always been easy to get drinks. We ate at the restaurant and found the food to be excellent. While our experience is limited to an annual stop, we enjoy it so much that we look forward to the next time. We would recommend this casino to others.
My wife and I have been visiting Johnny Z's since they have opened a few years ago. It is a small intimate casino with friendly staff. We normally play craps as they have a $3.00 minimum on their craps table. The lowest you will find. The staff is friendly and we enjoy speaking with them while we play. Bar service is always good as the girls don't get hammered with patrons. Thanks for a fun evening. Even though we didn't win! Oh well, next time!
The picture shown on this review is for the casino owned by the same company but it is down in Black Hawk. This casino in Central City is very good to have fun and take friends. Usually caters to the younger crowd, but all are welcome.
Johnny Z's in Central City, CO used to be a fun place to play the games. That has changed harshly - the servers are infrequent and the staff behind the front desk are sullen (that is if you can get any response at all). I have noticed that the number of players is down and now it's down one more (me).
The staff at the crap table is extremely rude and they look for reasons to push their weight around. They listen to your conversation between one another and if they don't like what you are saying regarding your bets, they start profiling you and make comments to the players and call security after they have created a problem. REALLY! Let's call security on a 56 year old grandma. They need to get off their high horses and realize it's the consumer that keeps them in business. Our family will never gamble there again. Furthermore, I go to watch my family gamble and have fun. I don't gamble. This place is not fun. New management needed.
This was touted as the newest casino in Black Hawk so we went. What a fun place! Bartenders and servers were attentive and appreciative of tips, they handed out taquitos and mini eclairs for happy hour snacks, yummy! As far as winning goes I was luckier here than at Ameristar or the Lodge.
We ate at the restaurant and had an excellent meal for cheap! Huge portions and great taste! We won a little on the slots with some bigger names: wizard of oz and willy wonka. We loved it!
We walked up the road to the place. It has some kind of race theme going on so I don't know what's up with that. They have a free shuttle down to their other casino. Make sure to sign up for a card because you get tonnes of free stuff from this place. The little restaurant upstairs had amazing specials and a delicious looking menu. I didn't eat there but I definitely will in the future. We won money and had a great time.
Lots of slots. Not enough video poker machines or variety. Table games appear fun. All employees have been GREAT, they are this casinos best asset. Some good comp's but it can get complicated as you can only use some @ certain times and promos don't run all day, just certain hours.
I had been talking to Darla at the visitor's center and she recommended the Prime Rib at Johnny Z's. She was right on the money. Fresh and tasty and more than enough to fill me up, and all for the price of a burger at a fast food place. Didn't gamble, so they lost money on me, but would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling in the area.
