I was not expecting this kind of place in India. But Chandigarh, you have won our hearts. Will recommend to specially save your energy for the last wing in the Rock Garden. It has beautiful waterfalls and other things to explore
It is really marvellous. This place is worth visiting. Never seen this type of a garden elsewhere in India. Well maintained place
Conceptually, its a long passage with different elements of surprise and attraction placed all along your path of movement. The way narrow passages open up to waterfalls and huge courtyards, is interesting. Do visit, and try to give it some time. Do not make it a hasty visit.
A unique concept and art made by Mr Nek Chand. Narrow pathways lead you to artifacts , village life and sculptures which are created from waste products - bangles, iron, tiles, bottle openers, sink etc. There is a large courtyard which has lots of swings, a toy train, funny mirror section, aquariums, camel rides and some eatables. There are waterfalls too. A good place to have a family outing.Even though its an open place -the rock garden, many spots have good shade.Do wear comfortable shoes, no heels please. The pathways are stony and not a flat smooth surface.Parking is available .Tickets per adults are Rs 20/-
Its best place to visit. We had lot of fun. It is huge and all waste material has been used to prepare different things including walls.
Art is in the eye of the beholder? The first 50% (the actual rock garden) is trying to follow the idea of Park Guell in Barcelona but failing desperately. The rest I would call an innovative use of (literally) a load of old rubbish - like electric sockets and rusting oil drums. Admittedly there are some interesting human and animal shapes also made up similarly, but it was just too much kitsch for me. And once you're in, you cannot get out in less than 30 minutes - worse than IKEA. Could not wait to get to the end - where you find a very uninspiring 'canteen' and toilet at last. Would not wish it on anyone - but make your own choice.
Concept and architecture is unique and outstanding....This masterpiece would not possible without efforts of Mr. Nek Chand...
Well Rock Garden has been one of my favourites... its a Place where I can go in the Morning and trust me wont be bored till evening.. its a Best place Statues , Monuments Rocks and the Waterfalls , small pathways all in all its a Perfect place
this is a beautiful place it visit . It consists of man-made interlinked waterfalls and many other sculptures that have been made of scrap & other kinds of wastes (bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, electrical waste, etc.) which are placed in walled paths. it had grown into a 12-acre.you must go it this place .worth watching man made garden..........
Lot of things make of stones and waste materials , whole garden is made of stone sculptures. very useful and good to know that we can use things which we generally feel as useless. a calm place with old trees and waterfall etc., everyone stepping in chandigarh should visit rock garden
