This IMAX is a good one with a great screen and sound system. They also have great pop corn! It is within easy walking distance of most Chattanooga downtown attractions.
We decided to have a family weekend with a total of 9 of us. I used a Partner Appreciation coupon to get a discount for a 3D show at the Imax in Chattanooga. It was well worth it! I pre-ordered our tickets to the Imax and also to the River Gorge Explorer. All I had to do was go pick up my tickets at the ticket booth at the Aquarium. Easy! I would suggest pre-ordering your tickets as this saves a ton of time waiting in line. The theater lobby was large and super clean. They had a wonderful special on 2 large drinks, an extra large popcorn, and a box of candy for $15! What a deal. We had wonderful seats and our whole group loved the Madagascar show. It was so informative. Seats were comfy and the theater was clean. We hope to go back for other shows soon.
specialty imax moves are predominantly played here. These imax moves are about 45 minutes long and are very informative. I think the the screen size is comparable to other imax theaters. Will go again.
We bought our Imax tickets as a combo with the Aquarium. It was very crowded as there were many many school groups on field trips. The place was jam-packed full of kids! However, the staff moved us to the front of the line and sat us in the top row, perfect seats. A very enjoyable time. We really appreciated not having to wait or sit in the middle of all the school groups (even though all the groups were well behaved! ).
This I-Max theater is very nice, clean and very reasonably priced. We saw a documentary about The Galapagos islands that was very educational and fun. A must see attraction in Chattanooga
My wife and I have been here several times. We went last week and watched a show about lemurs in Madagascar. The photography was great, as always. The price of the ticket is $9.95 US. it is conveniently located in downtown Chattanooga, near all the other attractions, the river, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. It is not far from the art district either. It is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
On December 27, we arrived before 1:30 pm to buy tickets for a 2:00 pm movie. The line for tickets was stretched around the side of the building. There was only one person selling tickets. We got our tickets between 2:05 and 2:10. The movie had already started and we had to sit on the front row. My wife got sick from motion sickness because of the close up seating and had to leave almost immediately. Adios to $20 for a very unpleasant outing due to poor management of this facility. Avoid at all costs.
We watched the Galapagos and found it very informative and wonderful in 3D. The theater was clean and the staff was nice. I also wished that we would have seen the Ice Age movie but time did not permit. It is a very nice add on to the aquarium experience!
While visiting the Aquarium exhibits, we added the additional $6 to go to the 3D Imax showing of the Galapagos. IT WAS WONDERFUL! I was initially concerned that the 3D effects would be cheesy or poorly done. Wrong! I was torn between loving the movie's content and the technology. Good stuff. Do it!
The IMAX is a great experience for the whole family. The screen is huge and the seating is great. You have to wait outside in the cold to buy tickets which can be annoying if the line is long. I printed coupons off the internet, but they were refused. The lady said that they were good only for the 45 min shows and we were there to see The Polar Express (which was amazing) - the coupon did say some restrictions may apply. Then she went on to say she couldn't have accepted them anyway since they don't have a barcode. So watch out for that. I complained about that via internet but got no response. One other thing I would point out that the theater probably has no control over...most of the nature films strongly push the theory of evolution and naturalism worldview - many parents may not appreciate that.
