Alice: thank you for sharing your time with us along with hubby, especially since on your 30th Anniversary, you had lots of other places to go and see. Maybe if Ohio State makes it to the Rose Bowl this year, and so does UCLA, you can come out pre-game for another tasting. Safe journey home, and enjoy the wine. Enjoyed your company and great questions.Tim for BobDog Wines
What a wonderful experience! This visit was an absolute treat and we now know that the next time we come back to Alexander Valley we would only visit this winery. It is a beautiful and relax atmosphere without the feeling of being pressured to buy wine, or pay for tasting. No other winery teaches you how to taste wine properly and everything about their grapes. I think that the difference is that the owners do the tasting themselves and not hired sales people as we experienced in other wineries. Kandy was so knowledgeable and their wine is amazing! It was also nice to meet their new dog Cabe, short for Cabernet ;)Thank you very much for this amazing experience!
We had an awesome time at this winery. My daughters and I went to Sonoma County to tour wineries. We had the Sonoma pass and thank goodness this winery was on the list. We were very new to tasting, Tim took time with us and answered any questions we had. This is a beautiful winery! The drive to the winery was beautiful so make sure to get directions before you go or call if you get lost. THIS IS A MUST DO!!!!!! oh and the wine was terrific. Thanks Vanessa
Climb the mountain, drink in the view then drink in the wine! The ride to the winery is a kick and so is Tim the owner. Learn a little or learn a lot about growing grapes at 2000' and then enjoy ! Making an appointment was a breeze just make a call, the environment is laid back and the wines enjoyable and reasonably priced..
Thank you for your kind review. We hope that you are now armed with tasting skills and knowledge that will allow you with confidence further wine tasting experiences, knowing that only YOU know what you like, your pallid is the best critic, and that wines are not meant to be intimidating or mysterious. Ok, keep the mysterious, but remember the 3 F;s: food, family and friends. Wine should always be part of those relations. Come back soon.
Private tour and tasting, excellent wine and great owners with a passion for sharing and spending time to teach you about wine
At the recommendation of our host at the Auberge on the Vineyard we spent close to three hours at this vineyard. The short drive from the inn to the vineyard was an adventure itself- up a winding mountain road with glorious views of Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Visits to this vineyard have to be arranged. The owner, Tim, spent over two hours showing us how the grapes are grown, how location affects the grapes, and other fascinating information . We were also shown the wine making process. The tastings were wonderful. A great experience.
Hello Delta Denizens:Thank you for your gracious remarks about our mountain endeavor. Shame about the skiing this year...but if it snows up here, I will alert you and you can ski Sky Pine Vineyards with no charge. You can make a few runs on our "Gun Barrel" block; and then sip some wine. Please come back this summer when the vines are in their full splendor, the air is warm, and you will be able to savor our 2011 new releases.Best to you. This place was by far our favorite during our trip to Sonoma/Napa valley. Owner Bob and winemaker Kandy spent 2 HOURS with us, not because they had to but because they genuinely wanted us to have such a great time, and we definitely did. Not only did we get to try really great wine but we learned so much about the craft and science of wine making. Their property view are fantastic, the drive isn't really that bad and totally worth it. It was also the only winery that gave us handouts of other wineries and restaurants in the area that they recommend! We can't wait to order a couple of bottles for the holidays.
Thank you for your comments. We really do strive to take the intimidation out of the wine tasting experience, especially since being in the ground with the vineyards and in the cellar with the wine, we learned some humility from mother nature and the always different flavor profiles that are attractive to our guests. We like to say: Its farming with booze add in at the end. And we hope you now are an adherent to the pairing of great food with great wine. Its 2 plus 2 equals 10.Come back and see us again.
