Just saw Straight No Chaser and the concert was fantastic. LOVE the intimate setting and the "guys" kept joking about the stage going around, but they were clearly into it as well. The best line of the night was when one of the singers said "... we know with this revolving stage only some of you get the BEST view...the rest of you have to look at our faces" : )
The South Shore Music Circus offers music concerts for all ages. The season is short so buy your tickets for the summer season as soon as they go on sale so you can get the best seats. Actually, you can sit almost anywhere because it is an outdoor music theatre in the round. The stage revolves and wherever you sit you will most likely have a decent view of the performers. We have seen Joe Cocker, Michael McDonald, the Beachboys, Casey and the Sunshine Band, Chris Botti, Buddy Guy and Quinn Sullivan to name a few.
If an artist you like is playing at SSMC, go! It is such a great place to see a show. Small, intimate, not a bad seat in the house. The revolving stage guarantees that. My only complaint is that they do not book enough artists that I am interested in seeing. Too much country for my tastes. I have heard that a lot of that has to do with some sort of anti competition clause.
Are we lucky or what! Right in our own backyard some of the best live entertainment, up close and personal. Go early, buy a glass of wine and then enjoy the talent brought to our own backyard. Plenty of parking but a pain to get out of…if it was organized better this venue would get 5 stars from me..also, raise some of the tent sides during the hottest nights to allow for more breeze. Then we would have a "perfect summer evening out!"
Went here for Trace Adkins. My opinion of this place is it would be great for a mellow quiet concert but not good with a band you want to get up and move to as most everyone sits for the most of the show and it's frowned upon if you stand even for a short while. The staff and grounds are fine just come of acts may be better going to a different venue for crowd enjoyment.
Quinn Sullivan, a15 year old guitar prodigy from New Bedford, MA, has been touring with blues legend Buddy Guy. I cannot emphasize what a great show this was. The venue was intimate, there is not a bad seat in the house with the rotating stage. Please, please take any opportunity you have to listen to this budding guitar legend. Buddy Guy at 78 is phenomenal, but his promotion of the youngster, Quinn Sullivan, is rock solid, hear this young man! And if hie is with Buddy Guy, don't miss this legend!!!
We went to the South Shore Music Circus for the first time in August. We went to see Frankie Valli. We absolutely LOVED the place, not to mention how incredible the show was! What a wonderful night out at a fantastic place. I bought a membership already for next season. My only complaint was that it took a very long time to get out of the parking lot at the end of the night because the police had one gate closed. All traffic had to exit one gate, which took almost 30 minutes.
We enjoyed Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons here. It is a tent with a rotating show floor in the center. No seats are too far away from the show floor. The acoustics were surprisingly good. There were plenty of door and seating attendants at the six or seven entrances to the tent. But the parking was horrible. It was not bad at all getting in and directed to a spot to park. However, they line up all the cars closely in rows. After the show, no one can move until all the cars in front of you move. Our whole parking lot was held up for an hour and fifteen minutes after the show.We didn't like sitting in the car so long, and some people must have had angry baby sitters whom they had to pay extra because of the parking hold-up. However the show venue was fine. I would have rated it as very good if it hadn't been for the lousy car management.
An intimate concert venue perfect for a new england summer evening concert. Been many times over the years. Not a bad seat in the place. It is also where the local high school holds graduation and there is even an occasional town meeting.Prices are very reasonable and the place is just two of a kind the other being the cape cod melody tent
Just attended a show at the SSMC. First time there and found it a very good place for a concert. Not a bad seat in the house, plenty of leg room, good sight lines, sound was very good and there were enough restrooms and food/drink kiosks for the size crowd they can accommodate. Living north of Boston, we don't often venture to the South Shore but it was less than an hour from home - a similar distance as the Hampton Beach Casino. Would definitely consider attending other events there!Oh, and the Happy Together Tour was a great stroll down memory lane!!
