There isn't any structure on this beach, not even a clean bathroom at the ONE bar-restaurant. I just went there because that was scheduled by the group I belonged to. It was not my choice...
This place is famous because it is a Nude Beach but YOU are not allowed without a ;partner and cannot get onto the Beach with clothes on So if you are looking to see as a tourist and not as aparticpant do not waste your time making the trip as it is not in the City of Joao Pessoa but quite a distance outside of it
I've gone to Tambaba Beach for several years. I know many other naturist beaches, but surely this is the best in Brazil and is one of the best in the world. Only couples can enter, so there is no embarrassment. It is impossible to be seen by curious, because the beach is completely inaccessible. There is only one entry and constant vigilance. Only one comes to undressing. The restaurant in the beach is good and there is still an inn, although fairly simple, to some one who wish to spend the night on the beach.
I've lived in Brazil for two years and I've seen all kinds of beaches - Tambaba is my favorite. The fact that it's also a "nudie" beach is incidental. I'm not a nudist, but I do follow the rules of the beach. Don't worry, you get used to it. Tambaba is a two-hour drive from Recife. You'll need to park your car and then walk along the "regular" beach to access the entrance. It's a fair walk so don't take a lot of stuff. There's a little restaurant on the beach so you don't even need to bring water. Note to women and families: Tambaba is a safe, secure, clean and well-regulated beach. I've gone there several times with my children and there's nothing to fear. One of the reasons I love it is there are so few people... and no weirdness. Just a quiet cove, beautiful cliffs and the occasional surfer. Try it!
Another pearl in joao Pessoa. I took a buggy tour around the city to see the beaches... It was a whole day trip and I had the chance to visit the best places with an amazing guide. I recommend this kind of tour... Even had a wonderful lunch in the middle of a palm tree area. But the highlight of this amazing day was tam baba. I did not hear about the place before but decided to try... Even I was not so ready for this experience. I was alone and found some other girls thinking in the entrance whether to enter or not, so we finally did. The guide waited outside. Well, the beach us amazing and the experience was great. Everyone was very respectful and I still can remember the great feeling I had while walking in the white sand and swimming on the turquoise water. I would love to come back.
There are two divisions here: Tambaba Beach 1 and Tambaba Beach 2. Let me explain:Tambaba Beach 1: Open for all visitors. A beach with a beautiful view, but limited. Lots of rocks. They don't have good places to eat there.Tambaba Beach 2: They say that there is a prettier beach on this side, but this is the nudists side. The access is restricted to practitioners of nudism.
Tambaba is really 2 beaches: there's a part that you reach first that's open for anyone that's really beautiful with old coral formations, then if you cross the coral hill, you enter a semi-private beach that's nudism is obligatory (but still free). The nudist area is larger and still very picturesque & there's even at least one restaurant facility on the beach. If you're feeling adventurous, visit both.
Ambiente agradabilíssimo, com um ótimo restaurante, uma vista indescritível, vale muito a pena conhecer e ótima para o banho, com lago formado pelas pedras!!
