Bit back off the main road but well worth a look and a pic ..... lovely Japanese style bell and a nice little area within which to admire the attraction ...
Just off the main street, outside the Civic Centre offices, you will easily find the Cowra World Peace Bell. Strike a note for world peace and listen to the informative commentary. A smaller version is to be found in the Cowra Japanese Garden. Cowra, this small Australian town, has a unique position in Japanese - Australian relations and documents its history in this respect very well. It is satisfying to see this lovely World Peace Bell here.
Cowra has gained the distinction of gaining the Peace Bell to compliment their fine work in reconciliation. The Bell is conveniently located near the Shire Offices and opposite the Art Gallery which is also worth visiting.
We took my parents to the World Peace Bell in Cowra. I think it is incredible that Cowra holds Australia's WPB. This is wonderful town and I love to go to the bell and gong it for peace and reconciliation.
In a side street and opposite the Art Gallery is Australia's Peaceful Bell. Replica of the United Nations bell, it is situated so that one can walk around it - and visitors are invited to ring the bell for world peace. Meaningful experience.
Sitting in its own gazebo outside the Cowra Civic Centre, the bell has a little audio recording that starts playing when you go to ring the bell.It is significant that it is sitting in this small town, where the others are in Major cities in the rest of the world.Worth a few minutes to stop in and see it.
It was nice to have a look at it and the kids loved ringing the bell....more than once! Just positioned in a side street off the main road.
The world peace bell provided a deep insight into the history of Cowra and its significance. As you walk in, an informative audio recording with details of the bell's history starts playing and you can also have a go at ringing the bell yourself. Located conveniently off the road outside the council, the world peace bell is a must see when visiting Cowra. It may be small, but it is highly significant.
It would be nice to think that us ringing the bell could do something for world peace. Alas, looking at world events in the middle east and around the world, somehow I don't think that will happen. We did enjoy ringing the bell though!
The Australian World Peace Bell has been awarded to Cowra and is usually located within capital cities. It is located at Cowra’s Civic Square pavilion. You can listen to an informative and historic audio which will inform you of the significance of the Bell and the recognition of World peace
