As an employee of a very nearby organization, I visit Nomahegan 3-5 times a week on my lunch break. It's always enjoyable and I really have no complaints. The park itself is huge, but I usually do a few laps around the main lake/baseball field area off Springfield Ave. There is a decent-sized parking area there as well as street parking on the other side of the lake. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean and spacious. The walking paths are always clean and clear, as is the lake. I frequently see township employees improving or cleaning the area. I just noticed today they now advertise free wifi, though I did not try it. The park extends, including a fitness trail section and a greenway section, and it is a great place to spend some time walking, biking, running, or even just sitting. The kids part looks nice and fun for younger kids. It feels very safe and family-oriented. There are plenty of picnic tables, benches, and places to stand over the water.
My place to go to when I 'brown bag it', there's plenty of parking and plenty to do, walk, jog, walk the dog or just sit, relax watch the wild life and veg-out for an hour or two.
Nice to place to visit and unwind. Went there with co-workers for our company picnic. Nice pool area and a nice place for families to visit and have fun. Beautiful scenary. a little too small.
This park has it all - baseball, soccer, playground, lakes, walking and biking trails. It's a great place to come for an hour or even an entire day with kids (at kids at heart) of all ages.
i run in nomahegan park five days a week. i love to meet and greet with so many dogs and their owners...wildlife all over. you can play ball, picnic, chill out, run, bike, rollerblade, walk your dog.....two miles around the path with exercise stops along the way. just beautiful! one good thing from union county tax dollars.
This park is one of my favorite places to take a walk. If you make the full circle around the outside of the park, it will take about 40 minutes. There is a lake, a river, woods, a playground and an area for picnics too. Clean rest rooms are available on the Springfield Ave. side next to the parking lot.Located across from the campus of Union County College, it is a safe park and connects with two other parks that have walking paths too.
Nomahegan Park is a great place to walk, picnic, relax, play games, etc. Visit any time of year. One of the best times to visit is when they have the craft tents. Great things to look at and buy. The food trucks usually have a good variety.
This park is across the street from Union County College which makes parking tight, at times. The park has a 2 mile walking trail with exercise stations along the way. It is charming and often has fairs or charity walks or 4th of July fireworks.
Since I live in Cranford I visit Nomahegan Park often for its walking trail. I have also brought kids to the playground there. It is a great place to visit/play and has a nice bathroom on site. Good place to walk a dog (on leash). There are picnic tables and ball playing fields (baseball, soccer) but I think they may have to be reserved. Plenty of parking unless UCC is in session (althoughI think there may be a 2 hr. limit).
Walking trail. Nice playground for small and big kids. Fishing allowed. Parking area can get crowded.
