We discovered the Library out walking one day. To be honest we just welcomed the diversion and didn't expect much to excite 4 children. We ended up staying for ages while the fascinated children were invited to inspect the books. I nearly fainted while they flicked through these lovely old tomes but Lara our guide was so interesting the children were entranced. Since then I've taken lots of visitors and every time they are as delighted as we were. There are lots of interesting events organised by the Library too - worth checking if there's one on when you're in the area.
We were amazed at the number of historically important books here.It is a very out of the way place although only 4 miles from Creiff. When you go in you are escorted by the librarian or a knowledgeable volunteer and you are shown books of great rarity and some you are also allowed to hold and read from which was very exciting. there were displays of books on golfing {it is near Gleneagles} and medicine and the !st World War.the Visitors' book is also very interesting as it goes back a long way and many famous people have visited it.
If you like books you simply must visit Innerpeffray. I am sure you will be as enthralled as we were. The guides are very knowledgeable and they will endeavour to search out books on any subject you select. The wonderful thing is that you will be allowed to touch and read books which may be hundreds of years old. It's such a privilege. Please don't miss this magical place and look at the website beforehand for opening times and more information to help you get the most from your visit.
Glad you enjoyed getting your hands on the books! thanks for writing a review.
My husband and 12yr old are big book lovers and were recommended this place by the in-laws who live locally. They loved looking at the Shakespeare based books and thoroughly enjoyed their visit. While on the otherhand this wasn't my 'thing', I was incredibly impressed by Lara's knowledge and passion on her books and this made it compelling listening. My daughter loved touching the books and didn't feel she was damaging them in anyway but also gave her a better understanding on how old everything was. Thank you to Lara and to Oscar the pugs mummy for an enjoyable visit.
Thank you for visiting, and thank you too for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor.
Who'd have thought we were wishing for rain! But we're glad it did and brought you to the Library. Really appreciate you writing a review about your experience.
This little gem is well worth the trip out of Crieff to its rather remote location. Very interesting collection, building and library setup. Staff and volunteers very enthusiastic, knowledgable and welcoming.Visited with parents but no option for family of adults! :-)
This library while full of rare and interesting books allowed hands on for all including the kids. What I thought was going to be a short visit turned out to be every worth while and very interesting for the kids as well as the adults.
This Library was a surprise and far more interesting than you'd expect from what might seem a dull subject. Staff were great and extremely knowledgeable. Well worth a visit
