We visited World of Wings today with 40 teenage pupils as a school trip to enhance their study of the play 'Kes'. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The birds themselves are all absolutely beautiful and obviously very well cared for. What made the trip for us was the time and care that the staff took showing us the birds and sharing their knowledge and passion. The half hour 'flying time' at midday was the icing on the cake...incredible! We had a great time:) I will definitely be going back with my family...possibly on a warmer day though! Ps huge thumbs up to the lovely lady in the cafe who was so calm dealing with an invasion of teenagers and was so kind to us cold teachers desperate for a coffee!
Lots of birds, but unfortunately our timing wasnt good and the display was at 3, and it was too cold to hang about.
I went to World of Wings to have a Bird of Prey experience. The keepers were very knowledgeable and inspired you with confidence. The birds looked very healthy and well cared for. They had a flying display which all customers could see and was very interesting. The keepers all seemed to enjoy their jobs. They had a nice cafe and all the staff were very friendly.I went with my son who is 28 but I'm sure my wee grandsons would also enjoy it.
The staff seemed very knowlegable about the birds and were happy to chat about them to us when they were feeding them. We timed our visit to see the flying display which started at 12pm and lasted about an hour. During the hour 4 different birds were brought out and flying about while we were tollld many interesting facts about them. Well worth the money.
Visited using a groupon voucher for two- a visit plus handling session. Usually when you have a voucher deal, companies are not so keen to give you great service...not here. From first contact I was impressed. When I called to book the lady on the phone couldnt be nicer and gave us advice on what to wear and the facilities available. On arrival on the day the gent on the desk was very friendly and welcoming and answered any questions we had.The large variety of birds all seemed happy and healthy. I was impressed by the number on display and we took our time to read about each one.The display was entertaining and informative. Watching the birds fly around was fantastic. We only stopped in the cafe for a quick cuppa which was served quickly by friendly staff. The handling session was a great experience. Each member of the group got a long enough time to hold the bird while learning all about it. The girl kept everyone engaged and answered all the questions. We all then got two shots in the field flying another bird. Considering we had a voucher I feel we were given first class treatment. I would recommend to anyone- as long as you are not afraid of birds. A very enjoyable afternoon out.
Took a 5 and 3 year old on a fairly wet, cold day. Their interest in the birds was waning until the demonstration started! Truly was quite amazing to watch such birds in close proximity and staff very knowledgeable. Cafe served simple but very tasty lunches (&cakes) and throughout the visit all the staff were so friendly and attentive to the kids. Will def go again and highly recommend.
It was unfortunate that it was raining the day we visited and it was very muddy. However, we had gone prepared with wellington boots on. The guy taking the tour was very knowledgeable about the birds and it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The little cafe served very nice soup and sandwiches and cakes and coffee.
Got a voucher for the birds of prey experience and absolutely loved it! It's an easy enough place to find, has a cosy cafe at the reception and the activities started bang on time. There's a parrot sanctuary on the way to the birds of prey that has a friendly old parrot that said "hello" as I went back to the toilet, then made me out a liar when I told Teresa it would say hello to us.There is such a variety of birds kept there and the size of some of them takes your breath away. Our guide was very knowledgeable, funny and has an obvious passion for the birds and the job the staff do with them.We are going back with the kids to let them see these fantastic birds. Great experience and a fantastic wee present.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit here - family and friends group here for flying demo and a few of them taking the hands on approach! Staff are knowledgeable & friendly and clearly care a lot about the birds. Cafe brilliant for soup and sandwich lunch - gingerbread cake was very tasty too! Will be happy to come back again
Despite this centre being less than half an hour from my home, I knew little about its existence. Well, what a surprise to find such a terrific visit so close by. The centre is very well laid out, being accessible for wheelchair users too ! It has a very comfortable cafe which serves real coffee and a nice choice of snacks. The birds are obviously well cared for in large cages with highly instructive labels. The staff are very informative and the flight display was a real high point of the visit. Will I be back? You bet. And I will be telling all my friends about this unique experience on our doorstep. Value for money? Absolutely!!
