The museum is very small so it is a short visit. The history is incredibly interesting and the short film in well done. The staff at the museum is very friendly and offered to offer questions and share interesting information that was not necessarily on the displayed signage.
This was a great little collection of history in the center of town. The film was informative, the displays well presented and the Staff was so friendly and helpful- you could tell they loved their job.If you do not know about the gold history of the area (and want to) this is a must visit.
Very nice museum outlining the gold rush in Dahlonega. My husband enjoyed learning about the history of the area, and I thought the best part was the gold in the bricks of the building.
The gold museum is in the old courthouse in the middle of the Dahlonega square. The historic building is beautiful and well preserved. There is a museum downstairs and a good film to watch upstairs about the history of gold mining in the area. The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to share. There is also a nice little gift shop in the lobby with the most delicious chocolate bar I've ever had! Plan on spending about 1-2 hours here and beware, parking is hard to come by!
The old courthouse that's now a gold museum is a great stop for a short tour. It's in the middle of the square in Dahlonega Ga.It has a lot of old artifacts and a gift shop! Worth a stop in while in town!
Interesting history of the building itself, good movie with overview of the Georgia Gold Rush (did not know there was a gold rush in Georgia!) and great displays.
very informative, interperative staff know the details of this history. be sure to watch the video and ask questions.
There are lots of historical information and great exhibits. The museum is very easy to find in Dahlonega.
This is a nice place. The brother-in-law visited her while the lady folks were roaming around the shops. Nice movie that gives history of the mines. Lots of artifacts and gold! Have to visit here before you go to the consolidated mine!
Dahlonega, Georgia is the site of the first major gold rush, and the museum take you back to a different era. What was so very nice is our tour guide for the day was "Anne Dismukes Amerson" who has written several book on Dahlonega. The movie and presentation of the information about the gold rush 1829 long before the California Gold Rush. Dahlonega also had one of the first 3 mints in the country. Charlotte NC, New Orleans LA, and Dahlonega Ga. Here you will receive information on were you can go to pan gold for yourself in the town.
