This museum is great for families. It is clean and well-staffed. There is an area reserved for toddlers. The museum includes a wide range of hands on activities. Great for a couple of hours or a day. Bring your camera!
We've had a membership for a couple years and found that it never pays off - we just don't want to go back that often because we don't live close. Probably for people living near the museum it might make more sense, but living 40 minutes away is a deal breaker for us. Overall, the museum is a lot of fun for kids and adults. Lots of fun exhibits for learning and playing and they move things around a lot, which keeps it interesting. Some of the exhibits, however, are getting quite worn down and kind of crusty. I believe in the last membership newsletter, they mentioned that some things were going to be phased out and new exhibits installed, which will help. The place is geared well for kids - bathrooms with small toilets and wash basins, which is something most places don't think of. Plenty of seating for adults around the perimeter of the room, for those who like to sit on their phones while their kids play, but lots of room for the adults who like to get right in there with their kids. Priced well and lots of fun, the only downfall is that the downtown location can have you searching high and low for a parking space on busy days.
Lots of stuff going on. Kids love the freedom to run from event to event. Too expensive, as they charge adults even though you are there as a guardian and not a participant. Best to hunt up discount coupons before arriving. we lasted about three hours and it was time to go. Kids LOVE it.
There are great activities for all age children. The bubble area is always a favorite of my grandkids. You can spend as much or as little time as you have here and enjoy every minute of it.
The staff was very friendly and there was a good amount of things for little ones to do; the objects seemed to be a little worn though and not so clean.
We spent the day at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum and had a blast! The cost was $8.25 per person ages 1 and up. Bring hand sanitizer since little ones are touching everything. I think the big hit with our family was the play pizzarea, most of our visit was spent here (after scoping out the other areas). Lots of fun making pretent pizzas, putting them in the pretend stone oven and then delivering them to the tables. The post office and the bank were another long stop for us. Lots to do and explore. Very clean area and helpful staff. As an adult I liked the bubble station, making large bubbles was pretty cool. We have been to several different children's museums in different states and this is one that we returned to and had fun the second time too.
We usually go here 3 to 4 times a year. It's 16 or $17 for me and my one son but you can do an annual membership for $60. They change the exhibits frequently and offer member Mondays which aren't as busy.
Great Museum for kids with lots of activities for children! Liked everything about the museum if you have kids and visiting Grand Rapids than a must!
Our 2 yr old grand loved almost everything! We loved all the interactive opportunities. Would have liked to see more staff or volunteers keeping the areas picked up/organized. One thing I didnt care for was the openess of the upper stairwell area.
We had a great day at the museum, kids had a blast so did the adults. The only downside to this place is parking and food. There is some parking on the street but not much and the lot that is around the corner is very expensive at $2 per half hour or $12 maximum. We stayed at the museum for 5 hours so we paid 12 dollars. The other downside is there is no café on site, there are very few snacks in the gift area. There are restaurants down the street but with the weather so cold and windy this weekend we had to leave and drive outside of town to avoid paying another parking fee. The upside is they do let you bring in your own drinks, and the staff is really friendly and playful. Overall I would give the museum itself a 5 just those little things make it a 4.
