This family has had a gallery 1 block from Lake Superior for decades. It's survived because it has stunning art - from people in the area, and from Inuit (Eskimo) people in the far north of Canada and Alaska. The work is extremely beautiful. You can buy things from $5 to several thousand dollars - and be treated the same. They love to tell you about the art. They have a second, smaller store in the canal area of Duluth (as some don't want to drive all the way to Grand Marais). But the drive is worth it and this place is remarkable.
I am lucky if I make it to Grand Marais once a year, and one stop I always like to make is at Sivertson's! I have a hard time leaving without buying anything. A lot of beautiful artwork, paintings, prints, sculptures, jewelry, etc. There are some artists that are always featured (and always nice to see), but the overall selection is always changing which is why it is great to come back to every year. If you are in Grand Marais, this gallery is definitely worth a walk through at least!
An interesting collection of Art and Photographs. Something for everyone. One of the best, not only here but anywhere. You will not walk away without buying something.
I don't go into a lot of art galleries, but the selection of paintings, jewelry, wood carvings, woodcut prints, fiber art, and photos were numerous and lovely. I will definitely go back when in the area again, but next time with more of a $ allowance.
This is another must-stop when we're in town. We love the northwoods / north country theme of a lot of their works, but there are some uber-modern pieces that all work together. There's always a free cup of tea waiting and enough to look at to spend an hour and a thousand or two dollars.. Or, less, or more.. Their collection runs the gamut, there's something in everyone's price range here.
The prices are higher than I can to spend, but I always enjoy looking at the variety and new pieces. This year I fell in love with the walrus tusk and wooly mammoth jewelry. But the prices were as big as the mammals!
Large, nicely laid out, friendly staff. A good mix of wall art and pottery as well as jewelry and cloth art.
The art gallery displays the works of several local and regional artists; all very tastefully displayed.
Friendly staff, not pushy. Bring your credit card. Amazing art that crosses all the mediums. There is something for everyone here. But, especially there is a focus on nature.
I stop every year at this gallery and usually end up buying something! Lots of nice local art that really captures the spirit of the North Shore. Plus jewelery and other little things. Was pretty busy on the day we went even though it was a weekday but had no problem getting around in the store and checking out.
