Lovely mountain! Staff was friendly. Prices at snack bar were high (2 chicken fingers/fries 7.99??) Trails were good - a bit mismarked - I like to warm up on a Green, the trail we were on was marked Green, but was more like a Blue - but still fun!
We've lived in NH for 25 years and skied everywhere. This is our special "local" area. But even if it weren't close by, it gets the prize for dealing best with the ugly New England Challenge: rain followed by a severe freeze. Ragged bounces back better and more quickly than most areas, constantly refurbishing its snow surfaces, which end up being the best in New England on any given day. This makes a big difference if you're coming for a vacation and can't pick your weather. Less crowded than most places, cafeteria serves better food at fairer prices than most areas, staff among the friendliest around. I really do hate to reveal all this, but one has to say thanks in some way.
There were 12 of us (all over 50!)...and we had a blast. GREAT conditions, great facility.....and the guys working the Tubing area were super nice and helpful. They were so awesome we tipped them!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! They couldn't pay me to play golf there again! The greens are horrendous (cut so short they have bare spots everywhere!). The wooden bridges are a serious safety hazard (missing planks, exposed spikes and nails, rotted wood). Are you kidding me??? In my humble opinion, Ragged Mountain is ripping people off and calling it golf. It's more like a baaaaad nightmare! They have my vote for worst golf course in North America. What a JOKE!!!
We went for the first time and had AWESOME skiing after a great season of snow. The new high speed 6 person quad and other lifts ensured that there were almost no lift lines during the normally crowded holiday weekend. The best surprise of all was the OUTSTANDING food served by a talented chef upstairs and gracious waitstaff. The menu is innovative but small enough not to be confusing. WE WILL BE BACK!
We skied Ragged Mtn on Saturday, January 17th. Very Family friendly. I took my three kids for a fun day out on the slopes. My two youngest got ski lessons and learned a lot. Highly recommend the lessons. The trails were great, staff friendly, lodge nice. Rentals were easy. We will definitely be back this season.
We love Ragged Mountain but in looking at their website since late November we held off this year as it seemed they were a bit slow to crank up the snow making. Only a few trails had opened well into January but we found the entire mountain open on February 1st. The conditions were amazing. The new Spear Mountain quad is fast and the lines for both lifts were short. You can get a lot more runs in with the second high-speed lift and the terrain off the Spear has always been our favorite. Lunch at Birches wasn't cheap but it was well worth it. I think it was the best lunch at a ski area that I can remember and it really wasn't much more than the cafeteria-style option downstairs. Ragged wasn't at all crowded on Superbowl Sunday and that's probably due to there being virtually no lodging for miles around. They get primarily day trippers and it's somewhat of a locals mountain. The crowd is polite, humble and appreciative and somehow different than you find at many other ski areas offering fancy lodging. Ragged is kind of an "old school" ski area. Get it while you can.
Another very enjoyable ski day on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Ragged Mt. Conditions were great and as usual, the staff were all fantastic...I strongly recommend Ragged Mt. to skiers and boarders as a place to go...I do look forward to an upgrade of the Spear chairlift but it is still a great take at Ragged...
My family and I have been skiing here for over 20 years and it just keeps getting better! We like the trail improvements as well as the new tubing park!
It may be small but Ragged is a blast! They do a great job grooming and everyone from lift attendants to bartenders are very friendly and helpful. The girls handling ticket sales are the best! No long lift lines to deal with and when there are lots of people the staff gets you up the mountain quickly, you can easily make 20+ runs a day. Season passes are an excellent value. The whole operation top notch!
