This is a beautiful park with many lovely areas for a picnic or to just relax. Very nice and wide paved walking/jogging trails, lots of benches to rest and enjoy the scenery, and themed garden areas and a greenhouse. It would be a great area for a family afternoon, for the little ones to run around and even a game or two with friends. I would highly recommend a visit no matter your age.
This park is family oriented and has a nice playground, pond and botanical events center. It's a beautiful park with plenty of room, places for a grassy picnic, fountains and paved pathway for runners and walkers. The grandkids enjoy the playground, though it could use a few more swings for little kids.
What a nice place to takeour family. It was decorated so pretty with all the flowers. They change it with each season or holiday. Always warm in the winter.
This park as a whole is beautiful. For a small fee you can tour the indoor portion of the botanical garden, but the outdoor gardens are absolutely beautiful. My husband and I enjoy strolling through the outdoor gardens when we walk our dog. As a local. sometimes we don't appreciate the stunning beauty as much as we should. But, the park really is gorgeous, especially when the flowers are in bloom.
This is a rather small area but it really stands out in this city. The park itself is quite beautiful, but the botanical aspect is charming. Explore all the areas and you will find some hidden surprises!
I love going to Vander Veer Park in the middle of winter. It has a lovely view both inside and outside of the conservatory. Inside you can see and smell spring flowers and outside the frozen pond, the snow covered trees are beautiful. If you go in the summer, it's great to take a picnic, take a walk around the pond, watch the kids play on the playground equipment and view the beautiful rose garden. It's a great place to visit any season because the landscaping is well kept. It's a great place for photography. I had my son's graduation pictures and my daughter's wedding pictures taken there.
We always enjoy the Vander Veer Botanical Park each time we are in Davenport. This year they offered a Clue seek and find who done it in the park that was so much fun for the whole family. They did a great job and I would recommend it. Even if you don't have small children the park and Botanical center is just beautiful!
Although not a huge park, it is really worth visiting -- beautiful rose garden, fascinating greenhouses to visit and a very lovely walk through the trees.
Variety of beautiful flowers. Well maintained and very family friendly. Waterfall is relaxing. palenty of benches to sit and relax.
This place is small and quaint. We loved our visit. It was only $2.00 entrance fee. It was a lot of fun going through all the greenhouses in the back and exploring all the plants. So many neat plants to see and everything is labeled so you know what you are looking at. The turtles living in the back under the Gigantic leaves are fun. This place is not new or modern. It has lots of antique, old fashioned charm.
