As first time visitors to Washington, D.C. we wanted a tour of the area. We book a trip with owner, Eddie and ELT Tours on the night of June 19th, 2014. Eddie was by far the best tour guide we have ever had. We met him by the Union Station at 7 pm for a night tour of the monuments. He takes you on the tour in his mini-van, so you get his focused attention with lots of big windows. He has a special mic connected to his car speakers, so everyone in the van can hear him give you the history and story behind each site you visit and the surrounding DC area. He advised us he was a former school teacher and you can tell by his in-depth knowledge and ability to communicate and explain each sit. At the Pentagon Memorial, he gave a special in-depth explanation of why the memorial was set up in a special manner. He explained his personal experience on the day of the terrorist attacks, while he was giving a tour on that day. He even broke it down into a baseball analogy for my 7 and 9 year old boys. We toured all the major landmarks in the area, except Mt. Vernon. You will not regret booking a tour with Eddie, he is by far one of the best tour guides out there.
Got a deal for on groupon for an evening tour for four people. Booking was a breeze! Went to the website to check availability and called to confirm with my groupon. Service was great! Eddie called back promptly (considering the 6hr time difference) and placed my reservation informing me his procedure of texting instructions the day before to my cell. I made the reservation 2 months in advance! This was our first time ever in DC from Hawaii and true to his word, with specific instructions, we connected for our evening tour without a hitch! Eddie was very informative and expressive with his experiences and knowledge of the various monuments that we had visited in our evening tour. His love for the city and respect for the various monuments and sites were infectious for when visiting these memorials at night, you get a serene spiritual feeling as you visit the hallowed venues of the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials. When visiting the Pentagon Memorial, Eddie practically brought us to tears as he described the events that had happened 9/11 and how the monument was planned with a purpose to each placement of stone. At each of these sites, yeah you would be looking at structures, but with Eddie, he actually gives you a thought and a emotion to how and why each monument was built. Eddie was very generous in his ideas and services. He even drove us around and showed us where to park and enter when we told him we had a White House tour the next day. I definitely recommend ELD Tours!
We booked this day tour through Groupon and wish his night tour had also been available because the night tour we did with another company just didn't compare. Having a small-group, personal tour makes the experience all the more enjoyable and informative. We had no problem finding our meeting spot at the SpongeBob mailbox near Union Station. Eddie was knowledgeable, pleasant and very interactive. He has a great personality - our only suggestion for him is to have people on the tour introduce themselves. With such a small group, it can make a the difference between a great tour and an unforgettable one. We later ran into the couple who was on our tour (at the airport!!) and it was fun to see them again. Eddie has a great system for running multiple tours at once, and we never felt as if we were waiting for him to return. We had enough time at each of the stops and his vehicle was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the cold water bottles he provided to us, as it was warm outside and we did a lot of walking. If we were to return to DC we would book this tour in a heartbeat. It was worth every penny full price, and the Groupon discount made it even more valuable. Thank you, Eddie!!
We had planed on a trip to Washington and had booked a night tour for the 5th of May. I had been fighting a virus for about 2 weeks and on the 4th my wife woke up with painful earaches in both ears and the virus progressed from there. Needless to say flying the next morning was impossible so we stayed home. Sunday afternoon I emailed Eddie to let him know we wouldn't be joining his tour the next night and assumed that our tour fare would be forfieted, if for no other reason due to the short notice. I was surprised when he replied by email and wished us a speedy recovery as well as requesting our home address so he could send us a full refund! The refund arrived this week with an apology for the delay due to his being busy. In my book, Eddie Davenport is a true professional business person and judging from his other reviews a terrific tour guide.
We booked the evening tour for 4 and our driver/guide, Eddie, was excellent. He took us to many places throughout Washington and more than made up for the persistent rain which occasionally obscured the view through the windows in the dark. We stopped or passed all sorts of places such as the Pentagon memorial, which is both beautiful and moving, the marine corps Iwo Jima memorial, and the MLK memorial, as well as all the usual attractions, of which there are many!Eddie was both friendly and hugely knowledgeable, I can't praise him highly enough! Highly recommended.
Purchased this tour through Groupon, but it was worth twice the price! Eddie was very communicative before our tour, and even picked us up at the hotel for the day. He was very pleasant, easy to understand, and really knows DC! Made the day very interested for our entire family, and accommodated our special requests. Would definitely recommend!
I called to book our tour, but ELD was already booked solid. Edward however, was so accommodating, he was able to arrange for our tour on Monday June 10, 2014. We never felt rushed or "squeezed in". After discussing our desired destinations, we had a very comfortable & personalized tour. We saw everthing on the traditional "must see list" and went off the beaten path. Edward made our day of sightseeing so wonderful and interesting, that my 12 year son & 10 year old nephew were never bored.
My husband and I did the semi-private night tour on our spring visit to DC. I am so glad we did it! It was by far the best way and time of day to see the memorials. Absolutely wonderful!
When we were unable to book the evening tour of DC because it was overbooked, we went with the Daytime Tour, and it turned out to be the best experience of our week in Washington, DC. When the couple that were also booked dropped out, we had Eddie all to ourselves, and he delivered! We went to Arlington, the Pentagon, Jefferson Memorial, MLK Memorial, and much more. Eddie was accommodating and patient (I really have to thank him for patiently waiting by the Starbucks for me). His knowledge of the area and the history behind the memorials made the tour memorable for us. He was always on time and exactly where he said he would be. He never chatted on the phone while driving, and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend this tour.
We just returned from our first family trip to Washington DC. The highlight of the trip was our evening tour with Eddie. His passion for his birthplace, its history, and current events made our experience great. We were treated well and learned so much. Our favorite stop was the Pentagon Memorial and Eddie's knowledge and passion for this place took us back to that fateful day. I highly recommend ELD Touring if you're looking for an intimate, personal, comfortable, knowledge packed, well priced, fun tour of our nation's capitol.
